More expensive to feed, but worth it.

4759 load suggestions wanted

Post by redmist25 »

Could anyone share some load data for IMR 4759 for my .260 and 7/08. I have Sierra MK 107 for the .260 and Sierra 130 MK for the 7/08 to try out.

Thanks

Not sure it's appropriate for a silhouette but I shoot lots of IMR 4759 through my 7-08's, 12 grains with a cast 140 will smooth out and break in a new barrel better than any other method I've tried. 18 grains with a 120 Nosler BT works quite nicely on fall turkeys where rifles are legal, that load is also a great load to introduce anyone to centerfire rifle shooting.
IMR 4759 was designed for reduced loads so you will be limiting your self on the performance of either cartridge by choosing it, however you could use it with lightweight hunting bullets for inexpensive practice.

The .260 and 7-08 are covered in this article using I 4759.
