Economics 101 & Political Correctness

Post by Bob259 »

Now, THIS makes sense!

Economics

It is the month of August, on the shores of the Black Sea. It is raining, and the little town looks totally deserted. It is tough times, everybody is in debt, and everybody lives on credit.

Suddenly, a rich tourist comes to town..

He enters the only hotel, lays a 100 Euro note on the reception counter, and goes to inspect the rooms upstairs in order to pick one.

The hotel proprietor takes the 100 Euro note and runs to pay his debt to the butcher.

The Butcher takes the 100 Euro note, and runs to pay his debt to the pig grower.

The pig grower takes the 100 Euro note, and runs to pay his debt to the supplier of his feed and fuel.

The supplier of feed and fuel takes the 100 Euro note and runs to pay his debt to the town's prostitute that in these hard times, gave her "services" on credit.

The hooker runs to the hotel, and pays off her debt with the 100 Euro note to the hotel proprietor to pay for the rooms that she rented when she brought her clients there.

The hotel proprietor then lays the 100 Euro note back on the counter so that the rich tourist will not suspect anything.

At that moment, the rich tourist comes down after inspecting the rooms, and takes his 100 Euro note, after saying that he did not like any of the rooms, and leaves town.

No one earned anything. However, the whole town is now without debt, and looks to the future with a lot of optimism.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how the United States Government is doing business.

More technically correct, from an accountant's perspective, she actually rented it out didn't sell it....

Commander Kitty, are you sure that was a rental and not a lease? But then I guess we would have to get into whether it was short or long term lease and what the returns were so that it could be taxed properly.

A one time use would imply rental...long term rights to the asset would imply a lease.........

Long term leases can become problematic, necessitating occasional rentals that avoid additional, extended, asset commitment or exposure. These transactions are definitively temporary and simple in nature.

gave her "services" on credit.
So, is this "multiple rentals", "a lease" or is she just cheap in settling for a 100 Euro? :p

Nature of the rental business is to keep the property working for you. And not all of us have the rental budgets of a New York governor. And even if we did, we'd just squander it on shooting stuff instead of rental properties.

Everyone,

I work for an oilfiled rental equipment company. Unless you rent and intend to rerent to another customer the transaction is taxable. My boss alway said that our business was like running a string of hookers!
You rent it out then wash it off and rent it again. Worst part is when the customer is so rough on the quipment you have repair it before you can rent it again!!!!!!! =))
