Ridicule and harassment of the LEO community and threats of firing with prejudice for enforcing city, state and federal laws is also common.

Fifty plus years after the crimes, 1960's era white supremacists were brought back to court and found guilty when they had been found not guilty by jury trial in the 1960's.
Most were elderly and were given what for them would be life sentences.
Why can't the same be done with the WeatherMen?

The decisions of politicians can destroy silhouette.
The recent covid thing is the perfect example.
Allow herds of protesters to be packed together shoulder to shoulder but not allow silhouette matches where people are automatically spread apart by the very nature of the firing points. As a healthcare professional, I believe it is the biggest hoax ever forced on the American people.

I checked prices on ammo and components today. The shooting sports are for the wealthy now.
When we started silhouette years ago, it was cheap fun. That is over.
The politicians have had a huge effect on our little silhouette hobby.

I am considering taking up play pool/billiards as a hobby since I cannot get ammo or reloading components. Too expensive to go shooting any more.

I think some portion of your "giving up" statements were tongue in cheek (or at least I hope so).

Don't forget Air Rifle Silhouette!!! Pellets are still inexpensive AND it's not an evil firearm!!! At least not yet!
