Contour for Lilja barrel

Post by shakes »

I got first place in A class at the Conrad Cup and won a Lilja barrel. I plan on having a custom gun made(Annie, Pahrr stock, etc.) My Question is which contour would you fellow shooter recommend for SB Hunter rifle. If some of you out there have this setup please tell me what barrel contour you chose and why. Thanks

I am going through the same barrel choice process, and I have had several different contours suggested. One of the most suggested for Lilja barrels is 53rf (rf = rimfire). I set my 1712 up as light as I possibly could from the start because I want to use all the weight in the barrel and have it 25" or so, so the weight hangs as far out in front as possible. My choice might not be the same as yours, though. Lots of people want the rifle balanced about where their forward hand is on the stock.

I don't have any advice for the barrel, but I would like to say congrats on the win!
Usually shooting scores right in class, too bad its the class below my classification!

Any Lilja is wonderful! Ask Dan Lilja and your builder, and then go with their recommendation unless you have strong feelings another way.

I have #53 contour barrels on both of mine, one fluted the other unfluted.
