AZ State Smallbore Championships

The 2014 Arizona State Smallbore Championships will be held at the Rio Salado Sportsman's Club, Mesa, AZ, May 17th and 18th. I have attempted to add the entry form as an attachment, but my computer skills are somewhat lacking. Hopefully it's here. Below is the general program:

DATES: May 17-18, 2014

RANGE: Rio Salado Sportsman’s Club, 3960 N. Usery Pass Road, Mesa, Az. 85207

ELIGIBILITY: It is NOT required that you be a member of the NRA or ASR&PA to compete in this event. ASR&PA members will receive a $5.00 discount on entry fees. You must be an NRA member to have any National Record scores recognized.

RULES: Current NRA rules will apply.

COURSE OF FIRE:
Match 1 Standard Rifle – 60 rounds – Saturday morning May 17
Match 1A Standard Rifle – 60 rounds – Saturday afternoon May 17
Match 2 Hunter Rifle - 60 rounds – Sunday morning May 18
Match 2A Hunter Rifle – 60 rounds – Sunday afternoon May 18
Match 3 Arizona State Championship-Std Rifle – Aggregate of Matches 1 & 1A
Match 3A Arizona State Championship-Hunter Rifle – Aggregate of Matches 2 & 2A

TIMES: 0830 on Saturday and Sunday. Practice will be from 0700 – 0800 on match days.
PRACTICE: The range will be available for practice on Friday, May 16. The range requires $7 range fee and waiver paper signed for all non-members. This is done at the Activity Center right behind the S.B. range.

ENTRY: Advance entry is required. Advance entries will be accepted until May 9, 2014. Competitors wishing to share rifles and requests for shooter-coach pairs must make advance entry at the same time so that proper squadding can be made. Post entries will be accepted to fill vacancies in established relays. NO ENTRIES FOR TWO RIFLES PER SHOOTER WILL BE ACCEPTED AT THE RANGE. If you want to shoot standard and hunter class, advance entry MUST be made.

ENTRY LIMITS: Standard rifle - 80 rifles. 4 relays, 5 banks of animals.
Hunter rifle – 80 rifles. 4 relays, 5 banks of animals.

ENTRY FEES: Matches 1, 2, & 3 - $85.00. Second rifle - $25.00. Juniors - $35.00. Second junior rifle -$20.00. Entries received before May 9, 2014 will receive a $10.00 discount on the first rifle. Proof of ASR&PA membership must accompany entry to receive the $5.00 discount.

CLASSIFICATION: Current NRA Rifle Silhouette Classification will be used. Classification books must be presented when registering. Those without classification books will be required to purchase one. Beginner shooters without classification will fire Match #1or #2 in the highest available class. Resulting scores will establish their classification for the next match. Non-US shooters are not required to buy an NRA classification book if they have proof of classification from their National Shooting Federation. Scores posted in their records will be classed according to NRA classification breakdown.




SCORING: Competitors will keep score. Competitors are required to examine scorecards after each five shot series, and to initial scorecards before leaving the firing line. Any scoring differences must be resolved immediately after the five shot series involved and before the targets are reset. Consult nearby competitor if question arises. If a score card is not validated, the recorded score will stand and no changes will be made.

JURY: A jury of three persons will be selected and will act as the final authority on protests or disputes concerning procedures, equipment, or other controversies.

EQUIPMENT: Rifles must meet NRA specifications. All rifles will be weighed & measured and certified before the match. .If any parts have to be taken off of a rifle to make weight, they will be held in the stat office until the completion of the match. It will be the competitors responsibility to claim the parts after the match. Non-certified rifles will not be allowed on the firing line. Rifles may be re-inspected by the jury at any time. Warehouse lifting belts are prohibited unless in compliance with Rule 5.5. Only clothing for existing weather conditions will be permitted.

AMMUNITION: Provided by the competitor. Any rim fire .22 caliber short, long, or long rifle. Hot loads, such as Stingers, Yellow Jackets, etc., are not permitted.

AWARDS: Awards will be given to Match Winner and classes Master, AAA, AA, A, & B in Matches 1 & 2, 1A & 2A. Awards for Matches 3 & 3A, the Arizona State Championships, will be State Champion, High Arizona Resident, (if the State Champion is a non-Arizona resident), Second Place State Champion, Third Place State Champion, and classes Master, AAA, AA, A, & B. In addition, awards for High Super Senior, (70 yrs & up), High Senior, (60-69 yrs), High Woman, (Non-junior, Non-senior, 20-59 yrs), and High Junior, High Intermediate Junior, and High Sub-Junior will be given in Match 3 & 3A. There must be at least two competitors in a special award group for the award to be given. Class awards will be given as follows: 1 place – 2-5 competitors; 2 places 6-10; 3 places 11-15; 4 places 16-20; 5 places 21 and over per class. Only 10 in a row pins will be given in Master and AAA classes. 5 and 10 in a row pins will be given in AA, A, & B classes. All Awards for Standard Rifle will be given out at the end of Saturdays matches, all Awards for Hunter Rifle will be given out on Sunday.

LONG RUNS WILL BE FIRED AT THE END OF THE DAILY MATCH AFTER ANY SHOOT-OFFS. IF YOU WISH TO TRY FOR LONG RUN, NOTIFY THE STAT OFFICE BEFORE THE END OF THE MATCH.

TIES: All ties will be broken by reverse animal count, (turkey, ram, chicken, javelina) except for match winner and any ties that cannot be broken by reverse animal count. All ties in the aggregates will be decided by shoot-offs.

SAFETY: All safety rules will be strictly enforced. Failure to comply with safety rules will be basis for disqualification with no return of entry fees. Eye Protection & Ear Protection are mandatory. Open bolt indicators are mandatory. (See Rule 3.21). No dry firing behind the lines is permitted. A dry fire area is provided and all range commands will be observed. All spectators and shooters whose relay has not been called will remain in the area behind the yellow line, out of the way.

COACHING: A shooter may have one person with him on the line to spot shots, coach, and keep time. The coach may not touch the shooter or his equipment during the firing period and must stay behind the line of shooters.
SMOKING: Smoking is not permitted on the firing line or in the area immediately behind the firing line.

Not much time left, get your entry in ASAP. Range is looking good. Adam Braverman donated some neat things from Lapua for this match, don't miss out! Word has it that 259 will have to carry his own gun around here, but on the bright side he won't have to suck up to Boner for a spot on his cart!
