Cooper rifles?
I am looking for a new nice sporter to shoot as an all around gun with a bit of offhand. Been leaning way hard towards an Anschutz (1712) but am wondering if I can get a comparable gun from Cooper?
Anyone shooting a Cooper in silhouette?
Thanks
Jeff

Re: Cooper rifles?
I hear crickets chirping. I've never noticed a cooper at a match. If I were to try one it would be a Jackson Squirrel rifle. But here's the deal, silhouette shooters want top performance and nearly everyone, except for Remington's 504, can get the accuracy good enough for silhouette. Anschutz gets the accuracy, weight and trigger right. They just shoot. Granted, many of them can't eject a fired hull.
The rimfirecentral forum has some discussions on cooper vs Anschutz you can read. I don't think you'll find much here.

Ouch! Kinda rough on the 504 - although it's well deserved. You might try a Remington 547 for something in between the CZ 452 and the Anschutz 1712, although the Anschutz is unquestionably the better rifle of all of these.edgehit wrote:I hear crickets chirping. Re: Cooper rifles?
I've got a Cooper JSR. Been back to Montana couple of times to get it to work. It doesn't. Won't feed, won't fire, sometimes extracts. Yes, I use good ammo. Beautiful gun, sits in the back of the safe. Took the scope off and put it on an Anschutz. It is the biggest mistake I ever made. I can be honest about it and sell it for a huge loss but I can't do it. Paid too much for it. One day, when the bile quit rising as I pick it up, I may try to fix it. Or not. Cooper can't, why should I think I can? DO NOT EVER, EVER, EVER waste you money on one. Of course I'm just one guy with one purchase......a $1900 mistake. I could have gotten the only lemon. But I've only rarely seen them at matches. Never in the winner's hands. That should tell you something.
