2012 New Zealand Nationals - end of an era for me

Some pics and results from this month’s Tokoroa shoot.

Well run, and enjoyed by all.

We were graced by the Australian and New Caledonian PRSC teams, and obviously our NZ team shooters,

which expands the event, Internationally, as we are only a very small bunch of regular silhouette shooters.


After having to wind down my all my positional shooting this year, and a couple nasty falls,
I adopted to trial the NRA adaptive sitting ‘offhand’ shooting position for Invalids, from my walking frame chair,
And was very pleased to be able to get through a 3 days of 3 x40 matches, whereas before, I was struggling to make one match,
and my scores have also reverted back to my AAA classification.

I also gave myself a treat and invested in a higher grade (make that more expensive !) rimfire ammunition, RWS, and it was nice to shoot some class for a change.

My shooting position has no support to arms, hands or rifle other than one would normally have in offhand, just basically taking the weight off my dodgy legs.
Second time that I've attempted it. Takes some getting used to !
Magnified my pulse, and flapping vest didn't help, but a nice solid platform on my backside.

I'm sure everyone had fun,
I know I enjoyed each day, after having to struggle through this past year.

Quite a few of us NZ'ers and Aussies have visited the Winnsboro shoot over the years, basically from the first joint Southern Nationals/NRA Nationals as well as your later individual Nationals.
Awesome shoots put on by David and Jerry et al, and don't mention the food and the Budweiser tanker !
I even have a Tureau trucking cap which I sleep with under my pillow.
A real life 'Mr nice guy' !,.... and I believe that he can cook ?


Standing behind me is Alan Murray, who has won World Silhouette Championships at IMSSU shoots.
NZ born, lives in Aus, and shoots for NZ.

Hi All,
Saddly Sean passed away on the 22nd of February, one of the worlds gentleman that it has been a privalage to know and shoot with.
May he rest in peace.
