Thank you Dennis for taking the time to take the pictures and posting them for us.
I will post Steve Rhoades email to the competitors in more than one part.
To all:
What a difference a couple of weeks make!!
I moved the match forward to February this year to get some good Arizona weather and it paid off.
The Small Bore match on Friday made it look like the local shooters were in trouble as the top spots were garnered by out of state shooters.
Tony Tello from California was the match winner and Master Class was decided by a shoot-off between two out-of-towners Lee O’Neil and Jim Luke. Lee, who hails from Colorado, won the shoot-off for 1st Master and Jim took home the trophy to Kansas for 2nd Master. The lone resident in that group was Chip Mate from Elgin, Arizona who captured the top AAA spot shooting an original Winchester 73 in .22 Long.
Saturday was a different story but not until the afternoon match.
Tony Tello looked like he was on his way to another State Championship in the Pistol Caliber match when he shot a 38X40 in the morning with his 39A in .22 rimfire! Again, Jim Luke was right there with a 37X40 as was Chip Mate with a 37X40 shooting his Uberti Henry Replica in 44-40 loaded up with black powder.
When the smoke finally cleared from the afternoon match it was Arizona resident Chip Mate on the top of the page with a fine 38X40. His aggregate score of 75X80 was enough for the Pistol Caliber State Championship followed closely by another Arizonan Eric Sundstrom with a 73X80.

The Arizona shooters thought were finally on a roll when the action started Sunday morning with the Rifle Caliber match.
Local shooter Dave Phillips, who has been absent from Lever Action Silhouette for the past year, shot a fine 35X40 with his newly acquired vintage Marlin 336 in .35 Rem. for the match win.
It’s the aggregate score that counts and Kathleen Garvin out-shot them all in the afternoon match. Her score of 35X40 combined with her 33X40 in the morning match earned her the 2012 Arizona State Championship for Rifle Caliber Silhouette.
The girls from Arizona can shoot! Joining Kathleen were Joy Cox who captured the Hi-Woman awards for all three State Championships and Jeanie Hershey who took 3rd AAA in the Pistol Caliber Championships.
Another notable accomplishment was our lone Junior Shooter Alex Jablonowski who picked up trophies for 3rd AA in the Small Bore Championship and 1st A in the Pistol Championship.
Having the weather cooperate was a big plus for everyone but having 45+ shooters cooperate as they did for three days really makes a match special.
Along with the outstanding cooperation of the shooters these matches wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for the outstanding effort put forth by Bill Cole in getting the range in shape and keeping it in shape for the duration of the State Championship.
Also, I want to thank Jim Crossen for his help calling the matches and Virginia Spurlock for bringing us brownies everyday and finishing up the score books on Friday so we could all go home early. Roland Wong and Glen Franks also pitched in Sunday to help me get everything loaded up so I could go home early as well.
I’m putting in my order for good weather for next years match and it looks like February is the month to shoot the Arizona State Championships so we’ll see you at the same time next year.

Thanks Tony!
I'm hoping that folks know that they can click on a photo and you can download the files direct.
I think Steve will be sending the link to the participants.

Thanks Trent, to bad that I have to post lower resolution photos to make it easy for folks to down load. No flash as to not blind anyone shooting, just all lens and photoshop.
