Question for Anschutz experts?

I got an awesome deal on this 54MS left hand a few years back. It has a weight on the end of the muzzle that was threaded on and the band on the barrel that doesnt look factory to me. Even though its the orginal barrel. My 1813 doesnt have this band. You can't see the markings at the area where it meets the receiver. Any input in this gun? Age or if the band is factory? Thanks

Anchutz barrels are pinned on at the factory. Some do have threads for factory 'bloop tubes'.

I know they are pinned but the question is whats the deal with the band and weight? Are they factory? My 1813L is marked on the barrel not the reciever AF which is 1984. I don't see letters on my 54MS.

Running boar model?

Yes, its probably an 1808 model. Its used in international moving target. The old name was running boar, but that name is not politically correct, LOL. Great rifle, same action and trigger as all of the 1800 series position rifles. The bloop tube is factory and there was bbl weights that u could put anywhere on the bbl. to fit the shooter and balance out the rifle. In the early 2000's bloop tubes were the rage in silo shooting and position shooting. I designed my Walther the same way after I rebarreled it. Great bbl action, out it in a quality stock and enjoy

The cone bushing against the receiver is factory and is used on all Anschutz barrels of the 1807 size and MS versions. The weight does not look factory.

The first rifles with bloop tubes and weights were made for running boar and later were put on silhouette stocks and were offered to silhouette shooters, the overall length of those barrels with tubes were over 30" long. I remember a friend of mine at a state match cutting a couple of inches to the bloop tube of his rifle with a hack saw to comply with the no more than 30" overall length barrel rule.

The one on the picture may or may not be Anschutz factory issue, kind of looks like one from a Walther silhouette rifle. All the Anschutz ones I ever saw were designed to be put on a bloop tube and not directly on to the barrel.

Its a 54MS as marked on barrel and has a 54MS stock. Can't be a running bore rifle. 1808 has a 32in barrel and the 54MS has 22in. The band is orginal I found an Anschutz catalog with a picture of a 54MS. The 1808 has an adjustable cheek and a small hook on the butt. My rifle is a 54MS for sure. Any clue on the date?

Many running targets bbl actions were put in silouette stocks, for that use. The bbl weight is not a Walther weight. I shoot a Walther. The bbl diameters are different. Might very well be a custom made weight. A buddy of mine shoots an 1808 and his bbl isn't 32". More like a shorter bbl with no more than a 6" bloop tube. Like I said, his model had the screwed in tube with smaller multiple weights that slide along the bbl and tube for balance adjustment. Obviously, Anschutz made many models and we need more photos. Good catch though, excellent rifle.

I think you have a 54.18 ed model without the extension....or a standard 54.18 that someone has attached a muzzel weight to it. it looks like a walther running boar weight. if the barrel end is treaded its a ED.. if its untreaded you have a standard 54.18 with a walther running boar weight. The walther weight has two allen head screws underneath to attach it to the barrel.

I have Anchutz weights and they don't look anything like the ones in your picture.

Thats what I said they belong to a walther KKMS. I took two of them back in the day, ground one off joind them together to make a longer one....

Yes the barrel is threaded. How can I tell the age on the rifle without the letters? Can't complain got her for $525. 5018 trigger,54MS marked barreled action and looks like a 54MS stock. Just the weight seems aftermarket to me.

Bhoges17... Could you please tell us a little bit more about the purchase? Not looking to get into all the intricate details, but perhaps what State the original owner was from and perhaps some other particulars?

Why I am asking is that the muzzle weight on your rifle looks exactly like one of the parts I used to make for many shooters up here in WA State and also in CA and AZ. I think I also remember that rifle. Not to many Left handed 54.18 left handed rifles are out there and only a few that have come through my shop way back then. Especially with product that looks like something I'm pretty sure I made.
