Boosted Scopes still possible...
http://www.bulzeyepro.com/competition-boosters.php
Read on a BR website that these will boost your scope 6-10power based off of a 24x scope. Looks pretty intresting. Anybody every use these, as my 24x is feeling a little week for my liking. Think I want to try and get up to 30x. Shot on 40x and that seemed easier than my 24x. Go figure.

Re: Boosted Scopes still possible...
CZ.. Here is the thread where I did a review on some of their boosters last summer.
http://www.steelchickens.com/forums/vie ... bulzeyepro
I have been very happy with mine all this time and never shoot without them on my scopes. I passed one on to another shooter and he uses it all the time as well but I might be getting it back since he just put a 30-50x on his rifle. Although something tells me he will stick it on one of his air rifles lol.
Not sure exactly how much boost it gives but use it a few times and forget to put it on and you notice right away. I just went to 8-32x Bushnells and with the 3.5x booster it has to be around 38-40x now I would say. That is plenty for me at this time but 24x I had was lacking so its perfect and I can dial it back if needed.
Dee
PS When you get to 30x plus you will be prone to crossfire more. I know because I did it the first shot of the first match after putting it on
Then again in Texas lol

Thanks for the info. Ive heard about the crossfire issues too. Hammy told me about some guy who shoots 50x I think and gets alot of crossfires. And I looks at there chart and based off that I should buy a 4x

Do you think my older Luepold 24x could use the threaded lens. It has threads on the eyepiece.

Hammie is probably referring to Jerry Tureau with a 60x on each of his rifles lol he is well known for crosses when he actually misses.
If you have threads get the aluminum booster mount. I didn't have that option. More $ but would be worth it to me if I could screw it in and forget about it.
It will get you to 30x or so if that's what you are looking for.

Yep!!! It was Jerry. And my scope has the threads so Im gonna chance it and try. Worst comes to worst I return it, and get the universal one. Dont really want to do that though.

Cross fires do happen even at 20x. I got 5 in a row turkeys at the Tennessee state shoot. The problem was that one of the 5 turkeys was Innocent's. The boosters will shorten your eye relief, and restrict some light. My question is is it worth the $125 - $165 extra? They might make it where I can see the targets better, but I will still have to get the shot off and hit them.

I agree with you john. I just know when I had my old BSA 8-32x before my leupold 24x with a 5/8dot, I found it easier to shoot on a higher power 28-32x range. Seemed for me that it allowed me to really feel comfortable when I pulled the trigger since I knew I was right on.

If you want bigger targets without having to re-glass they are worth it I think. I paid 50 and got 450 worth of boosters so well worth it to me lol. Bushnell 4200 8-32x with booster is still less than a 30x Leupold fixed and gives you variable power up to around 40x if you want it. I find refining my hold is easier at higher magnification it allows me to focus more on a particular spot.

I agree with you dee. I think the longer some people shoot the more power they will eventully covet. I look back now and laugh at the days when I had to shoot 8x. Practice makes perfect!

I usually shoot at 24x. I tried Leupold 30X silhouette scope and didn't like it, especially on days with a fair amount of mirage. Went back to 24X.

Jason, Like you I tend to stick in the mid 20's unless it is extremely bright. I may crank it down to the teens if it is really overcast or very high mirage conditions.
Baby Huey, you will find a comfort zone when you have shot a bunch of different conditions.

Mary, you have to help me with Huey. He's on the computer all day long trying to build the better mousetrap when he should be getting some lead downrange. I'm at my wit's end. Kids nowadays! I'm considering grounding him, but he's bigger than me...

Re: Boosted Scopes still possible...
Hammy...something about easy to ground him, just kick as high as you can and you should be able to land one on the shins which will bring him down! Huey....tweaking is fun and very much needed, but until you learn the basics tweaking is chasing your tail Bud. Very few have ever been able to start out tweaking and get anywhere, Neil Diamond being one of those few...and I think your coach understands me on that comment. Neil never studied classical music until late in his career, and you can hear it in the style of songs he wrote. Practice those finger excercises, breath control, sight picture, NPA, follow through etc. until it becomes natural, like driving a stick shift!! Then worry about the tweaking the equipment.
