vinni14 WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED? Many of us will loan you a rifle to try at matches, when our paths cross. I agree with Boyd, a CZ 452 varmint, Style, Silhouette, or American. You can still get everyone but the American new right now. If you have a FFL that will accept a transfer for you, we collectively can find you something. Most everyone has shot a CZ452 and will tell you that with a little work they are as competitive as anything out there.

thanks I've been looking at the cz varmint but what else is out there comparable to the cz? I've looked at the savage mkII with the AccuTrigger but haven't heard much about them for silhouette. is there a third option?

I can't speak for the Savage but, I have a CZ 452 American and I would recommend it to anyone for accuracy out of the box.
Stock rifle and Weaver 36x scope I have shot a master score with it.

vinni14, welcome to the addiction, and yes the CZ 452 is a good choice, the stock style is a matter of personal preference, THe guys at Chatanooga will be happy to show you what they have and let you try their rifles. THis month will be a little light on turnout as it is also the weekend of the Georgia states in Brunswick, so some of the regulars will be in South Georgia.

Re: need a good 22
I'm just going to throw this out there...
Damn near any modern rifle (and a dang lot of old ones) can do this game. Scopes on the other hand... spend every dime that you can on a good scope first, then worry about the rifle. A $100 pawnshop rifle and a $500 scope will go further than a $500 rifle with a $100 scope on it.
Just my opinion.

Trent, amen.
And the fit of the rifle to you is more important than the "name" on it.

Re: need a good 22
There are a few shooters who regularly shoot a CZ variation that will be at CRC.vinni14 wrote:chattanooga TN and i cant wait the silhouette matches start up on the 16th of this month
My nephew shot a Savage for a while and did reasonably well with it. Most shooters use whatever they have developed confidence with.
We'll see you at CRC. Bring what you've got and keep an open mind.
