F/S - Anschutz 64 action smallbore silo rifle-SOLD
Hello,
I built this silhouette rifle using the single shot 64 barreled action from an Anschutz 1903 model target rifle. As such it has a long barrel and dovetails at the muzzle for using aperture sights (I personally always liked the balance afforded by the long barrel). The blueing is 100% and I have never experienced any functionality problems at all.
I bought the stock used and it is an old Savage/Anschutz stock from “back in the day”. It was designed as a position stock and had an old style accessory rail. I glass bed the action, removed the accessory rail, filled the recess, and finished the stock with a textured paint for a nice tactile feel (the paint has seen better days and is wearing in spots around the grip area). The spacers at the butt are cut-to-length wood dowels. The trigger guard has some wear on the finish underneath and is drilled in the back for a stop. The hole in the stock for the front screw of the trigger guard is worn and can use some TLC to grip the screw more tightly.
This gun is an excellent silhouette platform and I have used it to shoot many master scores, including a personal best of 37/40 last season. The gun really likes Eley Match EPS (black box).
