Another Harvesting Post!

Post by mordecai »

I can honestly say, this poor bugger is the result of a few years of silhouette hunting...
We spotted him, I cranked up the magnification, set the rifle to my shoulder and click-boom. He dropped like a lead weight. It was one fluid motion, took about 3 seconds and never involved any thought. The bullet went thru both lungs and we lost zero meat. He was around 100yds off and it was the cleanest dressing I've ever done. :ymcowboy:

Amazing what practice will do, isn't it? I accidentally shot a rabbit between the eyes awhile back because Kitty had been nagging everyone "Headshots only!" Before that everything had been chest or shoulders but a little Range Rat Re-programming had me confused...

Nice shot Mike and nice buck. Did the boys manage to get one yet? Got a nice three point muley over in idaho and saw three bulls four days before elk season and wouldnt you know it opening day gone like a cheap prom date. Cool thing was I was using an old remington model 742, 30-06 semi-auto, with open sites and the muley let me chase three times before I got a good shot at him.

Congrats, Mike. I think you should have let Harrison make the shot, though. :)

You guys will have to learn the correct termoligy for all the great shots on wild animals. It is 'BOOM...FLOP'. The rifle goes boom and the animal flops dead on the ground.

I don't know if any of you remember big ol fat John Hall and Jr. but that is what John was called Boom Flop) because of all his hunting stories and his great shot to end it.

Nice shot Mike...but a sweater is something you put on when your mother gets cold. How come the boys have head gear on and you don't?
BTW you missed a great match in Georgia.

Mike:

Tell Harrison that better not be my knife that he hasn't returned in the second picture of the poor defenceless deer you murdered.
