fairfax rod and gun club match info

Question what is the match schedual at the fairfax rod and gun club for Smallbore silhouette rifle if they are holding matches there date and times for September. thanks.

It is listed for September 13th in the NRA Shooting Sports USA magazine, which you can access on line on the NRA website.
The listing also gives you the contact info for the person who runs the match at Fairfax.

I plan on being in the area...So I will drop in and shoot...I will have to wait and see when I get the NRA magazine for the contact info and time....other wise I will be up to shoot.

I've sent email to both the SB and HP match points of contact from the NRA magazine with no response yet. Trying to get my ducks lined up for the HP match in 2 days, but cant get ANY info.

Oh Oh .....might have to change plans....would be more than a little disappointed if I drove up there to look at a bunch of trees....I hope they are still shooting cause I wanted to hit the NRA museum while I was there.

They're active and shooting. The HP match director just sent me a couple of emails (he's travelling) from his balckberry. They are one of the last SB Silo clubs in the area, and I'll get some more info for you Sunday.

They shoot 200m reduced course HP matches, starting at 10:00. Sight-in is allowed from 09:00 to 10:00, so zero's shouldn't be a problem.

Looks like I'll shoot my first match since 2001!

If they're shooting 200m reduced courses, do you still have to use at least a 6mm? Even a 223 would take down 200m reduced targets and be super cheap/low recoil.

They follow NRA rules, so 6mm is required bore diameter.

Sure makes me wish I had kept a 6mmBR based wildcat I developed. Thay thing LOVED 100 grain bullets with very small charges. Still supersonic at 1000 yards too. Could have been just the ticket for the 200 reduced game.

Oh well, hindsight is 20\20.

OK, Match went pretty well, and I spoke to the MD about the SB shoots.

The range is a typical eastc oast type, buried in the trees with very light winds. So light I had some pretty wicked barrel mirage issues on the last banks. Given the 90 degree temps and shooting HP, I guess that's expected.

All SB distances are in meters. Looked to be gongs at each line for sight in as well. Dirt berms right behind animals too, Tiered approach, with Chix at what feels like foot level building to the 100m rams that still felt like you were shooting slightly downward. The HP animals, on the other hand, felt like you were level for 2, and slightly up for the other 2.

HP director said the SB events were very well attended, with several relays (we had 2 for HP today, done at 11:45) and lasted until 3:00 or so in the afternoon.

I used GPS to find club, which was main gate. Silhouette events are on lower ranges; turn right onto gravel and follow around behing skeet\trap fields, then take another left to LEA range. Kind of hidden.... I'd keep MD's cell number handy, and leave time to make a wrong turn or 2.

Looks like I'll be travelling on business the day of their next 2 shoots but I'm going to see if I can work something out.....

Register and sighters at 0900, match at 1000, finished by 1500 or so. 12.00 per gun, I think, and there is time to shoot both guns.
