Want to know if my CZ452 Varmint with a Leupold VX-II 6-18AO, target turrets, will make wieght for both divisions of smallbore silhouette? Anybody running this sort of combo? Asking as i dont have a scale here in the house. Thanks.

I used that exact set up for a while. It made weight by a few ounces. But I don't know what kind of rings you have. If they are light weight, you should be fine.

Ditto! It's a great setup and a true classic with BKL rings, so shoot and enjoy. It's very hard to improve on that setup!

I am running the Leupold Steel 22 rings. THink those will push me over wieght?

Better to check. If it's over, put out feelers for a set of BKL's.

I had a set of BKL's when I first bought the rifle, but the darn things shot loose from the rail. Wont be trying those anymore.

A large portion of the rings on silhouette rifles are BKLs and I've been shooting them on my Anschutz 1712 and CZ 452 Varmint for years. If they shot loose, then it wasn't the rings' fault. I don't use any Loctite on mine at all, just torque them to 20 in lbs on the rail and 15 in lbs on the rings. Haven't had them come loose yet. Make sure the screws aren't lubed. If necessary, clean them well and use a bit of blue Loctite (easy to remove later).

Sometimes BKL's take quite a stiff twist to clamp. I've usually gon hand tight plus 3/4 turn with an allen wrench and haven't ever had mine come loose......
If you still have them may want to try again, cause those darn things are working great on lots of rifles, or toss them in the marketplace-someone'll take 'em off your hands for sure.

When tightening onto the rifle it's hard to over tighten BKL's - I don't think they'll break... Tighten them until the scope doesn't move, then tighten a bit more. They are stiffer than other mounts, and they will fool you.

Yeah I would try them again, but they went into the garbage about 8 months ago. The Leupold rings worked right out the box, saw no need to keep the BKL's.

got my digital scales in last night and weighed my varmint. with plastic magazine in rifle both turret covers on and sling swivels still in the stock from the factory i came in at 8lbs 6.4 oz

thats with a 452 v, rifle basix trigger, cz steel rings and a lupy fixed 25 power scope ( the scope change got me under weight from a tasco 6x24 variable and millet rings even though the cz rings are probably heavier than the millets
