Ok first off understand I really like Coopers and thus am biased. I use a M57 Ser # 34X that I love and my 16 year old son shoots the Jackson Hunter (has the fiberglass stock). We are both only a couple of scores away from to moving to AAA. Both of our guns have several thousand rounds through them. The newest Coopers shoot "Anschutz" compatiable clips. Making the less expensive Savage with minor modification a great option for spares. Mine has an older clip arrangement that can lso used the cheap Savage clip. The newer clip relase button is more desirable as the older one has some sharp edges.
These guns will stand with any production gun in their class for accuracy. My son's is superbe, I fear to type some of the groups we have shot at 100m with decent but not EPS or Lapua ammo as some would not believe. These guns do shoot. Mine shoots well but not quite up to his, though still sub 1" with good (but again not needing EPS or Laupa)ammo (calm winds, no caffine, etc.....). They give up nothing in accuracy to the production Anschutz.
I would suggest only looking at their fiberglass stock, first cost (those nice walnut stocks are expensive), second this sport requires modifications and guns do get banged/bruised from time to time. Mine came with a fine AA Walnut stock that I dinged up and had me ready to cry. it really was more of an American hunting stock anyway. I sent to Cooper and they fitted with their fiberglass stock. Their charge for this was reasonable and gun was retruned with new test target. The original stock resides in the gun cabinet.
IMHO the real difference is that the Anschutz 1700 Series can be had with the 2 stage trigger. The single stage trigger is a deal breaker for many people. I feel their single stage is as good as the Anschutz single stage. To be fair the Cooper HAS to be compared to the 1712/1710 as the prices are darn close. The Anschutz is a great gun no doubt with many champions shooting them.
Doubtful few but I will suggest you to consider the Cooper. But fine rifles they are.
