Timney for CZ452 worth it?

I'm a lowly B-class shooter considering a Timney Trigger on my 452 Style. I think the current (stock but smoothed by a gunsmith) trigger is still hampering my scores, so I'm about to drop the money on a Timney install.

Have you guys got any better ideas?

Finally - I understand the Timney is adjustable from about 1.5# to 3.5#. Any reason not to just run it at the minimum pull setting?

Get the Timney, a case of ammunition, and practice.

Have it in my youngest's CZ. I like it, as I have had Timney's on several centerfire rifles through the years. So was familar with what to expect. It ain't an Anschutz or a Jewel (it also ain't $300 either!) but better than most triggers. Our's is a consistent 2# trigger (minimum for "hunter" class).

One tip, be sure to remove enough wood behind the trigger. When you 'overpull' the trigger to remove the bolt the trigger travels more than the original and can bind on the wood. Thus needing sufficent wood removed.

I tried the "tricks" on 'rimfire central' but couldn't seem to get the more exact adjustments I could with the Timney. I use only very light oil on sear and get consistent results. I tried the different "moly's" but found the trigger would change it's pull weight after a while with these.

The advice about "get a case of ammo & practice" is golden.

I'll be getting a case of ammo no doubt... that was part of the game plan anyway. Where are some good online sources for .22 target ammo?

LH2 BB has the goods, That link will get you every thing you could want... If your looking for something close Brunos on central up by Deer Valley Airport. I bought some RWS at randalls in Glendale. He also has some eley match. I have had good results with CCI SV, and automatch but would suggest getting wolf or sk by the case from the link above...

How does you cz group at 100m as is????

I like Timminy triggers it should wake up your CZ!!!!!

Are you comming out to BA this sunday??

When the rifle was new I shot the best groups at 100 with RWS Target Rifle, followed by SK Std Plus. 1" off a rest no problem.

Since Midway's RWS brick price was pretty good at $46 I ordered some of that to tide me over for a while. I'll drop the rifle with Timney in Phoenix this week for them to do the install.

If this lot of RWS is as good as the last one I tried I'll be pleased. If not then I'll try some more SK.

I have not shot at BA yet - it's a long haul from the east valley. Just Rio Salado so far.

Pete A. Loved your photo of a LH youth shooting a CZ Scout. Best damn youth rifle out there by far. Shoots great. Trigger is the weak link. But for kids...or even adults it is a great place to start and take you to AAA class.

Here is mine. And pls, I know, glasses next time!

You'll be thrilled! I'm one of the few heretics that prefers a single stage trigger, even when a really nice two stage is available (see marketplace if you'd like a two stage 1712 Anschutz). Let us know how you like it!

Durant if you look closely at Samuel's gun we have the "youth/scout" on the full sized left hand CZ 452. He had shot the shorter Scout for a while.

As his dexterity and profecincey increased I got him the "lefty". I called CZ and they sent the the stock for free. It did take some fitting but no problem for a back yard shop. The check piece is a bit worn and taped on rubber check piece. My play is to splice in a higher comb.

Tough part is these buggers are constantly growing thus needing fitting/refitting contantly. So it seems I'm always a step behind.

I like the cool color combo on yours. Samuel loves lots of stickers.

As a B Shooter, time on trigger (practice) is more important than which trigger. A good part of this game is mental. If you thought your trigger was bad, it was, to you. A new trigger is cheaper than a step-up rifle. Shoot a case of ammo. Also, consider the NRA Light Rifle Standing Qualifiaction for a little change of pace and improvement. I started with a Marlin 25 with a (now, to me) horrible trigger. But a summer of shooting, a case of ammo, and the time spent on the silhouette field and Lt Rifle Qual made a big step up.
