Southern National Help
I went to the AR15.com site and read the great things that Mike posted about the Southern Nationals. Toward the end of the thread, I think that Marvin said some great things about us. I would like to set the record straight on a couple of things regarding the post and hope that Marvin or Mike will make sure that the figures are correct and not over-stated.
First, the Louisiana Department of Tourism does grant us $25,000 per year to host this match. This pays for the food, printing and postage of the program and the thank you gifts to our sponsors and many other things. If you wish to view our grant proposal, you can go to the Louisiana Legislature site and view the Cooperative Endeavor Agreements.
This match brings in over 275 guests to our small community. Franklin Parish has less than 30,000 inhabitants. This week brings in over $125,000 in expenditure to our area. This is why the state supports this match and tourism in our area. Our area businesses and community leaders realize what this means to our area. That is why you will be greeted as long, lost friends when you attend our match. The merchants support our match with many great door prizes. Our National Sponsors donate over $50,000 in product for our awards and door prizes.
We appreciate all of the support from the local and national sponsors and the continued record attendance of the shooters. Winnsboro Gun Club will continue to host this event as long as the shooters want to come to our great state and have a great time. We are primarily about the shooters and their guests having a great time and the shooting is secondary; however, we will continue to improve our match and the range to make this the premier event in the country if not the world.
I would appreciate someone that is a poster on the www.ar15.com site going to the post by Mike and correcting some information. You will see that it is a great thread with many great things said about Winnsboro Gun Club. It is evident by the pictures that our Sheriff and other officials are definitely pro-gun and support us in all endeavors.
Sincerely,
David G. McLemore

I hope I haven't said anything disparaging... There's just a certain amount of cultural difference that I couldn't leave un-highlighted. NW'ers are an odd lot... The urbanites are die-hard leftists who live and breath the kool-aid. And we right-ies are somewhat libertarian and all of this leads to some crazy populist outcomes... The use of inmate labor here would be welcomed, not only by the inmates, but the right-half of the population. It's the hyper-sensitivite left-half who's concern for some owl, tree or frog's feelings up here that stands in stark contrast if you can imagine what I'm saying.
Louisiana and N'Orleans have a history and culture that Washington never will.

Please don't get me started on the "hyper-sensitive left-half" - they take all the fun out of being the token liberal and this would have to go Behind the Berm.mordecai wrote:I hope I haven't said anything disparaging...
