New shooter

Post by jneihouse »

Oldest daughter Erin Cooksey delivered my third grandchild at 1:30 this afternoon.. Mother and daughter doing well. Grandpa's proud.....Joslin Faith Cooksey decided to come a litle early so mom would be recuperated enough to shoot Winnsboro.....Gotta love a considerate kid..........

Congratulations on your new grand baby.
So at Winnsborro, your grandkid should be a B class shooter by then. Spotting Kitty would be so jealous

Nah.. start with this. It's a Daisy 499, nicknamed "The Most Accurate BB Gun in the World."

I picked Kyle Mobley and Chris Winstead's brains about better guns to start my girls out with and Kyle was just a fountain of info. I'm going to use his idea of getting one of the 499s, drilling two long holes in from the rear of the buttstock to reattach pieces later and then cutting the stock off with a thin-bladed saw in 1/2" or so blocks. This will let me make the stock as short as I need it and then let it grow with the kids by reattaching pieces with wood screws through the blocks I add back on.

You might want to turn the scope the right way, unless the kid's going to be doing some behind the back trick shooting. :)
