54.18MSR is a xxxx Series rifle?

Anschutz fans, please enlighten a newbie. I have a new 54.18MSR and continue to see 1700 and 1800 series numbers flying, but I don't know what my rifle is considered, series-wise. I assumed that the 54 was the action and the 18 maybe the barrel, MSR=Metallic silhouette Rifle or some-such in German-talk, but upon reading the owner's manual, I am still left wondering what "series" the 54.18MSR really is. Any help on this confusion is greatly appreciated. Thanks much!

The 54msr is a 54 series match action. There have been a few different 54 actions in past production. For the last 20 or so years there are three 54 actions in production. The 54msr has the same bolt, safety, trigger group as the 1900 series match guns, 1907, 1910, 1913. The 1900 series is the same action as the 1800 models built in the early 1980's, 1808, 1813, and the short model run of the late 1970's, 1607, 1613 etc. By the way, older 54 MS rifles were single shot, later production are repeaters.
They also currently make a (older design) 54 with a different bolt, wing safety, trigger, and I'm pretty sure the reciever is a little longer (?). That is what they use in the sporter model. Most people use these as the light rifle. These are the 1700 models like the 1710, 1712, 1717.
Anschutz also makes a 54S action, that is square in shape as opposed to a cylinder, and has 4 action screws. It has the same bolt and trigger options as the 54msr. Thos is the 2000 series, 2007, 2013 etc.

54 = action
:18 = barrel length
MS = Metallic silhouette
R = repeater

The barrel length on a 54.18 is 22.5 inches. The .18 refers to the 5018 trigger (their best)
