One coming from Evelio's shop (or I kinda stole Kitty's gun)

Well folks, even though I'm not a very good shooter yet, I have decided to have Evelio toss me together a hunter gun.
I had been tinkering with the idea of modifying a stock for my CZ Silhouette, but I know myself too well. Seeing as I am addicted to this sport for the past year, I know I'd always be wanting a proper rifle I could shoot both classes with.
My journey began showing up at Rio Salado Sportsman's Club and shooting a SB match with my box stock 10/22T. The addiction began. With a less than comfortable cheekweld and a non-AO scope I began doing some research and within a couple of weeks had finished putting together a pillar bedded, 1.5lb triggered, Fajen Silhouette stocked rig for this game. Lo and behold, before I shot my first match with the 10/22 modded for sillywet, I fell upon a Savage Anschutz Mark 10D that became my Standard gun. This was fine for a while, then I got a hankering for a hunter gun and landed a CZ 452 Silo in a trade.
Always obsessing for more, I wound up not being able to pass up a deal on a 64MSR that replaced my SA 10D. Now I saw what a gun with a real trigger can do and started thinking of a 2class gun. It didn't help when Tim Finley shpwed up with a 1712 put together by Mr McDonald.
Long story short (too late eh?) I was looking at getting either a Kimber HS or Weatherby XXII (64 in a fancy monte Carlo). I had both rifles on the screen when my wife was in the office one day a couple weeks ago and asked her which one she liked better. While this is directly akin to her asking my opinion about two pairs of her shoes, she asked why. I explained to her my plight and she just said, if you are always going to want something better why not get it first, adding that I could do so and it would be my visit from Santa. WOOHOO!!

Now there is a 1712 barreled action from Champ's Choice enroute to Evelio, and a mold at Peterson Composites getting ready to make my Pharr RT/S stock. This will have a Pharr triggerguard and a wide trigger shoe added for good measure. As much as I'd like a fluted tight bore Lilja, I just can't justify wasting a 1712 barrel, so that'll stay stock. Evelio will pillar bed it all together and I'll be all set (at least until the next bright shiny object catches my attention.....).

Where does Kitty come in?? While I was considering colors for my stock, Evelio had sent me a picture of an orange to black fade RT/S. I was thinking orange and black, as the Harley Davidson Motor Company has long been the end user of my disposable income.

I was seraching through all the pictures of Pharr stocked rifle I could find and saved the picture of John's two red and black guns. They were the perfect picture to bring up in my photo software and by sliding the "hue" control on the edit screen I could visualize pretty much every color fade you could think of and I settled on orange:

The only twist I'm having done with the stock is I morphed the two to see what would happen with a solid forend and a marbled stock all the way through the butt, and that's what I settled on, kinda like this:

I think I'll forgo the large bolt knob, unless I get talked into it before it's done, but I did decide to go kinda mellow on the bling and have Evelio powdercoat my triggerguard (and perhaps trigger) in gloss black.

I am so excited!! Being as impulsive as I am it is actually fortunate that I have to wait on a stock, as I will get the color I want, not settle for what's currently available. I just hope the holidays don't extend my wait too long!!!

I'll go out on a limb and predict that you'll be very happy with the new gun....Nice color combo, and unlike some of the older Harleys, It won't leave a puddle of oil behind......I like the large bolt knob for other than just looks alone, it "feels better" in my big paws......Be sure to post pics when you get it done.

I was not a believer in the large bolt knob until Evelio insisted on putting one on the rifle he just built for me. It makes an unbelievable difference in leverage! It's a pretty inexpensive upgrade and highly recommended.

Your rig sounds a lot like my new rifle except for the color scheme - you'll love it! I was surprised to need the higher BKL rings instead of the ones used on the factory stock 1712 but they're a perfect fit. Kitty is tempting me with powder coat colors but nothing is very interesting so far, though he'll probably win out before next season.

BB-I was tempted to build on the one stock Evelio had coming in that wasn't spoken for yet, but dark blue marbling on sky blue base just isn't for me.
Perhaps you need the stock for a HP rig?.......

It is very tempting - those are my colors and to shoot HP I need serious help with <ahem> recoil management and Evelio certainly has the cure, if there is one. And there's the rub - if that isn't the cure I'm in pretty deep with a(nother) rifle I can't use in competition, and a certain 504 already taught me that lesson hard. That thing needs to hang in my office as a humility lesson.

My experience with BKL is that if they are slow to deliver and slow to answer email, give up. Get what you need in black and refinish them. I'm no longer the patron saint of lost causes (see above.)
