Number of shooters at locals per month?

How many shooters show up at your local matches each month. We are in need of new shooters here in Tulsa and I have added my twin boys to our mix and they clean up in the 6 and under class...ha (fun shoots)...that put us up to 9 for the day...we used to have 13-17 shooters...not sure where they went.

But seriously if you live in Tulsa (or anywhere near here) PLEASE come shoot with us at Red Castle...next shoot...June 2 be there at 9 AM. I cant make the Winny National Shoot

but am going to beg borrow and steal to get to the June 2 shoot here in Tulsa.

We have anywhere from 6 to about 15 or so show up to our smallbore shoots, and about the same or a few more show up to the cowboy rifle and hunter pistol silhouette shoots. The numbers tend to fall in the coldest winter months and rise in the warmer months.

I am inviting EVERYONE I can find who shoots around here. I have an extra CZ I have offered to loan a time or two, but cant seem to get the commit...need to go back to sales school again I guess HA.

I need to create a Smallbore Silhouette recruting office...maybe the retired Army MSG across the street will join up and run it...no boot camp though I am way to out of shape for that...but wait...isnt that sitting, drinking, jawing, shooting, and eating for our sport...maybe this is a good idea...

At the main clubs closest to Denver we have 15-17 shooters this year. I dont think the numbers got that high last year. At my home clube we get about 6 shooters. It is a bit more of a drive, but I do not want to let that club die as we are bound to lose a couple clubs in the next 10 years due to development. I would love to see 20 shooters so we can justify putting up a cover on the shooting line.

Key to larger numbers is New Shooters

In Woolmarket Missisippi we have bee avg. 15 per match.

We have from 15 to 20 in Tucson and from 25 to 35 in Phoenix. I don't know what the attendance in Mesa is.

I had to miss Wednesday night but Chicken tells me we had 26 for a "one-match-before-dark" weekday afternoon session. I'm pretty excited about that. Really looking forward to this Sunday's monthly matchs.

Rio Salado, in Mesa, AZ, has one this weekend, Sat. 5-19 at 9:30. It will be my first...haven't been a virgin for a couple of years.

I would say the 25 to 35 is a good number for Ben Avery in Phoenix. The actual numbers are approximently like this:

Standard

B = 5-8
A = 8-12
AA = 10 - 12
AAA = 4-6
Masters = 4-6

I do not follow Hunter so I cannot give you numbers but alot of people shoot both classes.

I will be need to start tracking the hunter class as my new Evelio McDonald special (in the mail as I type) is going to used for both classes this Sunday of labor day weekend if I can get the rifle sighted in by match time. I will only have Saturday before the match to put it together, mount the scope and sight the ammo in for elevation and windage. Pressure, gotta love it.

If that takes more than 30 mins.... you are taking too long. steps below to a 5 shot zero....

1> Set Eye relief and cant at home the night before. If you do not have slope built into the base, go ahead and install a shim (even with most 1/8 min scopes this is not 'too much')

2> Go to range and bench the rifle - Center the scope knobs (1/2 way up/down and left/right

3> turn scope to lowest power and shoot at the berm behind chickens or at 50 yards aiming at a rock / spot. Note bullet impact...

4> While holding rifle at origional point of aim, reach up and dial in elevation/windage until your reticle is CLOSE to where the bullet impacted. Shoot at rock/spot one more time to guage your adjustment...

5> at chickens you should now be 'on paper'. This gives you 3 shots to dial in at chickens. Many times I can put the 4th or 5th bullet into the same hole...

At that point I would shoot 5 more to dial in at chickens.... Dial the scope up 15 mins+ to make sure you have room at the 'top'. Dial back down to chickens and dial down an additional 5 mins to make sure you have room at the 'bottom'. At that point, you should be ready to dial in each animal.

Note - for 1/4 MOA click scopes, you may want more than 5 MOA top and bottom. (I currently shoot 1/8 moa scopes with less than 25MOA of travel <200 clicks>. 10MOA for chickens to *RAMS* leaves ~14 mins. Perfect world, I have 7 mins top and bottom)

You want to be closer to center, but for a rifle you are setting up Saturday and want to get in some practice for the match on Sunday, the above will more than enable that for you....

In the past we have taken shooters toTulsa Red Castle and shot. The key is if you want us to come (Old Fort Gun Glub, Fort Smith Arkansas) you have to reciprocate..........We'll come and shoot with you if you'll come and shoot with us........

We have been to Tulsa Red Castle several times ove the past 4 years, but the only ones who have came to OFGC was Ed Kessey and Mark Grace.

www.ofgc.org. Didn't mean to sound hardnosed in my previous post, and in reading it I realize I may have came across a bit strong. Key is, if we want growth we have to work together and support one another. Benton comes to Fort Smith far more than we go there, but I'm working on making the trip more often. Come on down and shoot with us.
