Stevens Falling Block

I have my Great-Uncle's Stevens falling block .22. Would this be a good basis for a silhouette rifle? It would require a new barrel and stocks.

Could you ? Probably, should you, another thing. Stevens falling blocks range from inexpensive Favorites to 44's built plain, to very high end target and Schuetzen rifles on 44 or 44 1/2 actions.

Favorites are not worth the trouble. Lower grade 44's can be made into good competition rifles. Many were years ago. High end Stevens worth too much to modify.

Go over to ASSRA.com and post a picture. They will tell you what you have and offer advice on repairs and modifications. Projects are fun, most silhouette is shot with conventional bolt action rifles though.

Thanks, I'll check out ASSRA. It's probably not an expensive version. I really just want to find a way to have some fun with it. Maybe 22 Longs or Shorts for plinking would be the way to go.

It's a Stevens Favorite model 1915 so I'll leave it as is.
