cowboy silhouette

Post by glen ring »

I've shot cowboy silhouette twice now at the Old Fort Gun Club in Van Buren Arkansas and It's been great! James Slusher does a great job of running the match and man is it fun! I still shoot smallbore silhouette, but if you haven't tried cowboy silhouette I feel you really missing out on some great fun. I use a Marlin Model 39 in smallbore and a Marlin Model 1894 in .22 magnum for the pistol cartridge match. No reloading ammo!

Try it guys, it's great!

I agree 100% I've shoot the Cowboy Sil. long range game using the full size targets at 50 to 200 meters. By chance I own a Winchester 1894 in .32 Winchester Special. This particular rifle is a custom order manufactured in 1919. The rifle was made with express sights calibrated for 50, 100, and 200 yards. These sights are perfect for the game. I think my best score was 28/40.

If I hadn't swapped my Marlin 39A for a bolt gun I would gladly give the smallbore Cowboy game a try as well.
