Koldkut,
Winnie is a match to make if you can only make one big one per year. What I have seen of the northern version of Winnie aka Missoula appears to be very interesting although having the prizes that are awarded at Winnie are hard to beat. The match is run by promotion professionals, eh Ducky????

Mary is one of our many supporters and promoters. As far as how we run and promote the Southern Nationals, we are only as successful as our competitors and attendees have made us. This year we were the largest "Approved" NRA smallbore Rifle silhouette match with 176 competitors. We listen to the competitors and try to make everyone welcome and address any issues that come up so that everyone there is in agreement.

We may have lost a few competitors this year as an approved match, but did prove a point. We will go back to a registered match so that NRA records can be set. We will have to increase our entry fee back to $145 so that we can give the NRA their fees for the tremendous support that they give us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That being said, if ANYONE has a suggestion as to how we can improve the match, let us know and we will try to get it done.

MR Duckgombo
Is the $145 entry fee,per rifle or is it for standard and hunter combined?

I get the message that this is if not THE BEST silo match it doesn't stand
in the shade of too many :o

I'd love to make it to one of these south of the 49th

Andrew,
The $145 is combined hunter and standard fee. You will not be disappointed in spending that money, the food alone is worth the entry.
In a breakfast conversation with David Tubbs while in Raton he mentioned that his old college roommate Robert Massey attended Winnsboro for the food...considering that Robert shot his lever action .22 in 2007 with tang sights I'd say he didn't come to do any serious competition for the prizes.

Ducky,
Registered or approved or even forget the NRA's approval, I'll be there, you already have my money!!!!

Winnsboro has become the match to make!

The $145 is for both rifles. This includes dinner on Friday night, breakfast on Saturday and Sunday and lunch on Saturday and Sunday. We awarded over 500 door prizes this year and most competitors received three door prizes. We also give out pretty nice ditty bags as most can attest to. You can visit www.winnsborogunclub.com and view the 2007 program and get an idea about the awards and the prizes that we give out.

We want people to have fun and not worry about shooting; however, if you are serious about shooting, you will have the best smallbore rifle silhouette range in the world. This was told to me by Anthony Finn from Australia as he has shot all over the world.

Innocent,

WE may want to start another thread and this seems to have highjacked the original intent of this one regarding vests.

By the way, we have 7 entries pre-paid for the 2008 match! It will be the first full weekend of June.

Ducky,

How to improve the match??...Hmmm..

I have a vision of some of the girls from the cultural tour in bikini bottoms and wet tee shirts setting targets.....They'll work for tips and you have to hawk the tip jar........

By the way, Master Baiter didn't show at the Nationals.......He had shingles and couldn't come and play.....So the show down in Raton town didn't come about.....Just as well.....Was too tired from the high altitudes and long evenings to brook much foolishness.
