Ammo Shipping Rant

Post by JimF »

OK - not related to silhouette shooting.

I am trying to ship reloaded ammo to my brother. In the past I have used Fedex, but every time I do it seems like I have to jump through an additional hoop. After my latest dealings with them (told to go to another office) I went on-line (again) and tried to decipher the rules. Their rules are complicated and contradictory enough that it seems like anything is possible. In contrast, UPS seems to have a clear statement of what they will and will not do. So tomorrow I will try UPS.

There. I feel better already.

I go to the usps distribution center on my route to work when I had to ship ammo. So far every employee knew the rules to label it ormd and that was it. The local fedex kinkos accepts rifles and is 3 miles away so I use them to ship rifles. They only had an issue finding the insurance label for guns.

I used to work for FedEx. Fed ground ships ammo all the time. From Govt to Govt.agencies and CMP to home delivery. Examples I can remember.
One problem can be individuals can make crappy dicisions based on thier clouded views of the world.
So you may get someone "interpreting" company policy that is not what it really is.
But they definately handle lots of ammo.

hole 'nuther thread....... but I always wondered why the Nat. Weather service needed 10,000. Rounds o 9mm?
