Shooting In México, possible? YES ¡¡¡

HI folks

In México, the FEDERACION MEXICANA DE TIRO Y CAZA (Femeti) and the CLUB HERMOSILLENSE DE CAZA Y TIRO are going to organize the 3rd Small bore and High Power rifle "world" championship. this time at Hermosillo Sonora octuber 7th

how many of you consider the posibility to compite in Mexico? many mexican friends of yours going to be present.
be interested to come ? have cuestions or Doubts? we want northamerican silhouetters, you can bring your own guns and ammo, there are laws an rules to comply but here we are to help you.

back in the 80's i went into mexico several time for high power silhouette matches when i lived in el paso. back then it was no problems. most of my shooter friends were from mexico. they would come on our side for matches without any problems. i use to dove hunt across the rio grande. we would walk across the dry river bed on the east side and dove hunt in mexico. the river was pull off in ditches to water the farms in the lower valley. we never had any problems. the police would show up and hunt/eat/drink with us. everybody got along. not like today. i use to buy my gas and food every week across the boarder too. went to the dog racing track every saturday night to eat and bet on the dogs. now i would not go across the boarder for any reason. i guest you can do it, but why take the chance that something wrong can happen.

I would LOVE to go to Mexico and shoot with my friends down there. I worry about it though.

Is it easier to get in and out of Mexico with rifles on a plane or driving across the border in a car? Is there any way to ship Highpower ammo from here down there?

So the trick seems to be having your paperwork in order and if possible have a person with Mexican citizenship to help get the permit from the army.

I wouldn't rate it as any harder than going to Canada with the only difference being a language.

Now having said that. I would surely defer to someone like jerry or Joaquin bustamante in Tucson for the most current dope.

For what it's worth Dustin I'd go with ya if for no other reason than to spot for you and pick up some tips!

I raced motorcycles for a long time. In the early to mid-90's we raced once a year in Monterrey. The race in Monterrey was sponsored by one of the Dos Equis CEO's. We had a dedicated border crossing at the Freedom bridge in Laredo with a couple Mexican lawyers to proccess the paperwork for our bikes and equipment. It was marginal back then ESPECIALLY making it through Nuevo Laredo.

Honestly don't think I'd chance it today....

The best explanation that I have received about Mexico is if you land in jail down there, the key to the cell is tied to a jackrabbit, if he comes back you get out, if not you stay.

well, there´s so many reasons why cross or not cross the mexican boarder, some northamerican people have bad experiences, some other have great ones. it depends of you.
in this case we are doing all the neccesary arrangements with a all the authorities to give every shootter the confidence you need to get in and out with your guns, all under the protecction of the law.

let me tell you this, nowadays Mexico is no more dangerous than some USA citys like LA. Chicago, Dallas. o more.

if we are doing this championship is because we can travel either by plane o by car without problems with our guns. this weekend we had a National Handgun championship in Monterrey NL. shooters came from 8 states, like Oaxaca, Jalisco, San Luis Potosi, Chihuahua etc etc.
some of the has to travel 9 hours by car, like an example my chihuahua fellows leave the city at the end of tournament, 6pm aprox. the arrived at Chihuahua 4am, without problems at all.

ship no, but to travel with your ammo,Yes you can. we are gonna give you the legal assesory to get into the country with your guns.

remmember, in México are 2 or 3 international shootgun championships, so this is not a experiment on that theme
