Any Matches near Lubbock, TX

All, I'm a long time lurker but finally joined! I'm so glad there is a place to go and find so much info on this sport.

My question today is whether anyone knows of any matches or clubs that shoot silhouette near Lubbock, TX. We recently moved from Phoenix to Lubbock and I realize now how spoiled I was with Rio Salado being so close. I can't seem to find anything out here in the Panhandle of Texas. Any help is appreciated.

You'll soon discover that "near by" becomes a relative term in west Texas and the panhandle... I used to drive 250miles round trip on a twice monthly basis for a decent steak when I lived there.

You're right smack dab in the center of about 4 active silhouette clubs (or more)... Unfortunately they're all 4-5 hours away by vehicle (further by bus,donkey, or even most airlines, LOL). It's pretty much a toss up between El Paso, FtWorth/Dallas, Austin, and Raton NM.

If you find yourself near Austin on the 2nd Sunday of any month, let me know and I'll send you the info to our local match. I even have loaner rifles if you don't wanna mess with traveling with yours.

Thanks for the heads up about Austin. I travel down there quite a bit so I'll make sure to time a business trip with a match weekend! We've got a few new ranges here in Lubbock but I don't know if they would be interested in starting a silhouette group.

Just to clarify, my matches at ARC on 2nd Sundays of the month are 60 round Cowboy Rifle and Hunters Pistol (halfscale targets). Smallbore in the morning, pistol cartridge in the afternoon.

A 40 round smallbore rifle match (1/5th scale targets) is also held at ARC on most 3rd Sunday mornings by another match director. PM me for contact info on that one, in case they don't want their email address or phone number posted publicly.

I know what you mean. I live in Amarillo Texas just up the road from you with the same issue of having to travel to the previously mentioned locations. There is a club in Roswell N.M. that I see every time I travel to El Paso, I have been wanting to check out but haven't. Here's the website -http://www.roswellgunclub.com/.
