So did you get an 82 yet?

I assume this is not for use as a silo rifle?

I have an 82G that I have, uh, worked on...
--I have added a Tubb 3-way plate.
--Added a McGee Thumbwheel cheekpiece.
--reshaped the forend a touch to remove the sharp corner, but left the flat and rail as-is.
--fully bedded the action with Devcon 10110 and pillars, and the factory bottom metal (if you can call it that) is also bedded from the bottom.
--tuned and polished the trigger internals (polishing was done by hand, the slow way, except done on 3M micro-abrasive paper laminated to glass sheet).
--polished the cocking cam and replaced the cocking cam screw with a J&P Screw.
--bolt is cosmetically polished to a high sheen.

The rest of everything is unmodified. It's a good shooter, with offhand scores as high as 198-6x (twice) on the NRA Highpower SR target. I have shot it less from prone than I should have, but it is a very good rifle for the price, as we all know.

If this is something that sounds useful to you to at least take a look at, let me know.

Magee, thank you for your reply. Funny you should mention the left-hand thing...the only modification I forgot to mention is a full reshaping of the "2x4" grip of the Kimber to allow for a more vertical hand position, and get my palm behind the rifle more, with just a touch of palm swell...like everything else, I did this by hand with chisels and sandpaper. The grip shaping was completed before the cheek piece for a seamless installation.

But, I set it up as a right hand rifle. It could still be shot as a lefty, but some of the rebate of the grip flows up onto the cheek piece, so it is probably not going to be "the one" for you unless you replace the stock, or you only intend to shoot from a bench.
