eyepiece for spotting scope

Post by jloehle »

Just got the Kowa 82SV spotting scope. We have the 20-60x eyepiece, but we used one of the long eye relief eyepieces on it and my spotter liked it much better.

I see there are 2 different Kowa eyepieces that are long eye relief. They both seem to be 25x. One is the TSE-17HD and the other is the TSE-20H. The descriptions of them sound the same, but the price is ~$150 different ($200 vs $350).

Can anyone tell me the difference between them and whether it is worth the extra cost?

The specs are not the same. The specs on the 20 vary according to what body you attach it to.

I see now that only one of those (the cheaper one) works on the 82SV. I kept seeing 882 and thinking it said 82.

Thanks for making me look a little closer.

I have the same setup with a Kowa 25x and the 20-60x. My ordering info on the 25x says TSE-17HD which is the LER Long Eye Relief. It cost me $215 for it about 3 years ago from Optics Plant. Great scope and you don't have to keeping taking off your glasses to get a good picture.
