WTB - Marlin 39A Barrel

Post by chuckjordan2 »

Looking for a barrel for my 1960-ish 39A. Prior owner(s) used a steel cleaning rod and the microgrooves are gone.

Shoots about a 2.5" group @ 77 yards which is fair, however, if I can source a barrel that should tighten that up (and yes I've tried different ammo).

Marlin no longer sells barrels, don't want to send it to them to do (prefer to do it myself).

Thank you for looking at my advert.

Chuck, I have an extra Octagon 20" (I think) for sale.
Some place in the garage.
Not sure if it fits your rifle and would be without any guaranties, but $60 plus UPS and it is yours.
Thanks, Dennis Ostler

Dennis,

First thank you for the generous offer. Could you measure the OAL of the barrel? If the barrel is 20" then I will have to pass on your offer (possibly it could benefit a collector). See, I'd prefer the barrel to be 24" Does it read "MOD 39A OCTAGON" on the flats across the top?

I appreciate your kind offer.

Chuck, let me find it in the next few days.
I'll take some measurements and report back.
Not sure what the barrel says, I'll let you know on that too.
