Quick detach rings for Anshutz 1712?

Post by sicigpat »

Hi all,
Does anyone use quick detach rings/mounts for their Anschutz 1712? If, so what brand/type?. I will be mounting a Leupold vx2 6-18 AO scope. Thanks.Patrick

I don't ave the on my Silhouette rifles, because of weight, but have them on some others and I like the Leupold's best.

Long story but

When I used a Kimber 82 sporter set up under the old 7 1/2 lb rule used a Weaver KT 15 to make weight. Rule weight went up to 8 1/2 lbs moved the Weaver to my Air Rifle and I put a Leupold 6.5x20 on the Kimber with Leupold QD rings. 2nd Scope for the Kimber was a Leupold 2x7 compact used for hunting. At the time I shot a Standard Silhouette Rifle most. Hunter was not used a lot. Scopes switched perfectly back and forth with no change in zeros at all

Then sold the Kimber for a Anschutz 1712. 6.5x20 would not make weight on the Anschutz using the QD's. Rings, the lever lock models, work very well you just have to watch the weight.

Once you get your zero's for the animals it's probably best to leave the scope on the gun for the duration, same thing with ammunition, buy it by the case, get zero's and shoot only that ammunition. There's to many things to think about in this game if your not 100% certain your gun is sighted in before arriving at the tournament.

Thanks for the advice gents.I'm a service rifle shooter and am new to this game. I've been reading prior post and didnt realize there were so many ring/mounting choices.Seems like the simplest way to go is with a burris signature or other 11mm fixed base /ring set up?

Good advice but that fancy ammo is damn expensive.
