Duckgumbo May 27 WGC Match???

Post by atomicbrh »

David, What time approximately will the Winnsboro Gun Club gate be open for the Sunday May 27 Smallbore Approved Match? I could not find the opening time in other posts. We have missed far too many WGC Approved monthly matchs this year and do not want to miss this one.

So, let's hear about it. Is that "Last Sunday before the Southern Nationals" getting to be a pretty big match? I know of at least one Arkansan who made the round trip! Who did well? Inquiring minds want to know.

Match turn out was small, I guess everyone was preparing on their home range!

Johnson's
Harold Larry
Bruce Finley
Bobby and Joel Huddleston
Dave Carpenter
Jim Wilcox
David McLemore
Chicken

Bruce Shot a 32/40 and 37/40
Limey shot a 28/40 and a 33/40
McLemore Shot a 30/40 and a 28/40

Those were about the only scores of noteworthness that I was aware of. I did not know many of the others....

This match started around 1:30 or 2 P.M. This resulted in very windy switching conditions with varying light on the targets. The wind was blowing us and our rifles around alot especially during Hunter Rifle. The winning scores were very remarkable for the conditions. The wind was not as bad as it has been before during the monthly matchs. We had to place all of the rifles on the South side of the racks one time because they would blow off the North side. We always try to shoot this match because it is the only time Banks 7 through 10 are set up at Winnsboro and you can get as much practice as you want. This was a good turnout for a Monthly Match at Winnsboro and we had a great time. Look forward to the 2007 Southern Nationals, it is going to be a great one.

Bruce is a very baaaad man. Bruce Finley shoots very well but is one of the most unnoticed great shooters of our time. Bruce lives about 2 hours west of us. Local legend has it that the man practices constantly with Air Rifles and Smallbore. Bruce is a very humble man and has a tremendous work ethic about his competitive shooting.

McClemore lives 1 hour 40 minutes west of us. Rumor has it that McClemore really does not practice Smallbore Silhouette. I noticed if McClemore shoots a good score he says practice is over-rated and if he shoots a bad score he says "I really need to practice this". From this I conclude McClemore really does not practice. I think McClemore does have a tremendous work ethic about his business endeavors and promotion of Winnsboro, LA. area events such as the Southern Nationals and other community activites.
