Annie 1712 w Leo VX3 6.5-20x40 ~ which rings?

Post by Frankly »

Pretty much says it all, getting my dream rifle and thinking this is the right scope too. Might as well buy the right rings for it too. Thanks

BKL rings would be my choice. I would probably go with the high rings.

Morr Accuracy also makes some very nice rings. http://www.morraccuracy.com/morraccuracy.com/home.html

Wondering what size? Obviously the lower the better while not interfering. I know this is a popular combination with shooters....

(Also apologies, I probably should have put this in the scopes and rings category.)

Lower rings may not always be better for silhouette use. I'm tall and I prefer the highest rings that meet the rules on my 1712. I use Burris rings with the plastic inserts to give me more elevation. YMMV. :)

The height is going to depend on your physical build and preference. Most people prefer to be as heads up as possible. This depends on how much check weld you can get from your stock and also where you place the butt on your shoulder. Both those things need to be consistently done each time. I've seen the Morraaccuracy rings and they are very nicely made. But they only come in the high model for silhouette unless you went to one of there other rings which at that point I would suggest just going with BKL rings. I use BKL on all my rifles except High Power. They also make riser blocks if you want to experiment and get a set of the tall rings and try them out. If you still feel like you are to low you can add the risers to get it up 3/8" or 1/2" higher I forget.

Or you could get the Morra Rings and try them and if you don't like them I'll trade you some BKL rings

I also use the high Burris Signature Zee rings with BKL risers on my Wooster 1712

I put a D.I.P. rail on last year and really like being able to use standard Weaver rings plus it's more flexible as to ring placement.
