Dug out of the safe from years ago

Post by Btc624 »

Really never used this gun much just for some informal benchrest shooting and really was impressed with how accurate this gun is. I bought it new from homer at champions choice years ago and the round count is less then a brick for sure. Can anyone help me on what distance I should sight my gun in for silhouette ? 44 yds first? It's terrible that it was never used for what it was originally intended for.

Chickens are at 40 m (44 yd) Most sight in at that distance and set 0 on their scope. Also set windage to 0 after you sight in. It makes life simple if you do that. Also mark the parallax for each animal

Prior to a match I always check my sight setting on the animal I start on and then leave it set there until I move on to the next animal during the match.

Rough numbers

chicken-0
pig-2
turkey-4
ram-8

Thanks for your fast reply jerry, never even thought about parallax settings, just shows what a newbie I really am. My scope is a leupold 6.5x20 efr But I think I might need to send it back and get a bigger dot cause that tiny target dot is probably going to cause me fits and believe me I'm not really the best free hand shot in the world so I'll have enough working against me. :(

Nice Hunter silhouette rifle! ;)

I think the barrel is beyond its Best Use By date.

I'll take it off your hands so you can fill your safe with fresh barrels. :D

Lol, actually farts there was a time a few months ago I was thinking of it just sitting there in the safe and I'm currently into some NFA stuff and was considering selling it but last week after taking it out and handling it convinced me that this gun isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Besides I would hate to sell it with a barrel that's best use by date expired and all. :D
