2014 Texas Gulf Coast Lever Action Silhouette Championship

Post by dustinflint »

I just found out about this today and apparently none of the Lever Gun silhouette shooters know about this but it should be awesome. Basically this is a "south Texas" state championship (registered) match being shot in conjunction with the state IHMSA (pistol) championship.

The match is Friday - Sunday MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND (2 weeks!) but very interesting for rifle shooters because competitors can shoot their matches whenever they want Friday through Sunday. It doesnt take long to shoot three 40-shot matches - one can easily get it all done in one day and not have to dedicate an entire holiday weekend to the match.

The match is at PSC in Friendswood, TX which is a phenomenal range just south of Houston.

Anyway, the program is attached. Let's get some big-time rifle competition out to the range!

Actually there are 3 matches this weekend in the Houston Area.
The Gulf Coast one, our regular SB silhouette match on Saturday at PSC (0830 practice, 1000 match starts) and a SB/ PC CLA match at BRI on Sunday (pc limited to 22 mag).
Could be fun...............but ya gotta come out to see. There might be special prizes for everyone who beats Dustin. =))

You just have to do that every time I go to Houston, don't you?

Sounds like a great weekend! We'll be rolling over on Thursday afternoon to shoot lever guns on Friday but our local smallbore match is on Saturday and I missed last month because of PeEll. Gotta defend my club championship and my wife somehow still likes me and wants me to be home the rest of the weekend.

I'm planning on shooting all 3 matches. PSC Gulf Coast CLA match Friday, 3 guns. PSC small bore Saturday and depending on how I feel/time maybe slip over to range 1 and shoot 2 pistols Saturday afternoon then shoot hunter pistol at BRI Sunday.

Dustin/Pat -

A bounty prize a great idea! We did this frequently in racing and done right it can make for some fun, yet friendly, competition.

Naturally whomever beats the subject of the bounty gets the prize(s)... The fun part comes if no one beats the bounty subject, then the person whom the bounty is on GETS the prize(s) themself!

Tim,

I have a real problem, as I was the only person who beat Dustin. I guess I'll just re-direct the prize for later on. I doubt I'll ever beat him again, but I know he will never forget it. =)) He did win PC outright. I just beat him in CF and SB. (and Agg). I also noticed since I texted him " I beat Dustin Flint" he won't return my calls or texts..... :)) In case anyone mis-interperts this, we are just pulling Dustin's chain. He is a ton of fun to shoot with, and we all had a great time at the match. The wind wasn't easy. Thanks for coming over. Dustin also earned a special prize for being the youngest shooter to compete. I have his box of diapers here.

I kill myself =))

Pat-

Congrats! I'll be sure and remind him when I see him in Raton.

- Tim

PS - That prize could also be confused with the oldest shooter's prize!

Ha ha ha... I will have you know that I shot my big bore rifle today after our local smallbore match and realized that my settings were very high. I would have figured this out yesterday and smoked Pat if not for the crazy pistol shooting rule of only 5 "sighter" shots before the match.

I shall have my vengence against Pat... It will start with the "surprise" that I left at his house. :ymdevil:

In all seriousness, it was fun. I could do without the orange targets but it is always worth the trip over to get to see Pat, Lori, Nicholas, Joe and Elisabeth (and even Emmett if I must). BTW, what did Elisabeth shoot today?

she had an off day. 36/36. I ALMOST beat her too.

You had 5 more sighters than I had. I didn't know until AFTER I shot and it was explained to me.

I found your surprise. Did Kevin find his surprise yet? I REALLY hope so.

I guess you and he can share your prize. =))

How did you do today?

37 & 36 - missing chickens and pigs all over the place.

Tell Elisabeth that she has to shoot at sideways targets at Winnsboro to make it fair for everyone.
