Where Buy NRA Cast Iron Animals

I took some pictures of the chickens comparing Ray's chicken with Calvin's chicken. They are not the same; Ray's are significantly bigger. Not shure which is correct but Calvin's chickens are smaller than the vast majority of chickens at silhouette ranges around the country.

The pictures did not come out very well and after looking at them I realize that I should have painted one chicken white and one black.

This is a side view of the two with Calvin's on the left and Ray's on the right. It doesnt really show anything except that Ray's is taller.

This is another view of both chickens sitting on a bench. Again, this one only shows that Ray's is taller.

This one shows the size difference of the actual body of the target but you have to look carefully to see it (it's easy to see in person but the picture would have been better if both targets were a different color. Here, I am holding the targets together at the point where the leg meets the body to show that the difference is more than just the thickness of the base.

To show the difference of the target body, while lining up the leg/body junction, I traced a line along Calvin's target onto Ray's target. So, calvins target covers only the area below the black line. It's actually more of a difference than it looks in the picture because the black line itself is pretty thick.

The difference is not huge, obviously, but there is no question that Calvin's chicken is smaller than Ray's. The pictures make it difficult to tell just how big a difference it actually is.

Looks like the vast majority of the silhouette ranges around the country are shooting oversized animals. Attached are links to full size, scaled drawings from the NRA website for smallbore animal sizes. As long as everyone is shooting at the same size animals, it doesn't make any difference. But, if your going to say one or the other is the official size, they should meet the official size drawings.

Ray's should have the "NRA" raised lettering on his. I have not been to Nationals, but I think they use Ray's and have endorsed on NRA's website some time ago, if my memory is correct. Comments welcomed.
I am not at our range to pull one of Ray's out, but has other markings too, if means anything to others. As someone mentioned,
Ray's has lifetime warranty.

The larger target in the pictures is one of Ray's. it has "NRA Approved" stamped on the back of the target. They are great targets, as are the ones from Quality Targets. The chickens are just different sizes (which I don't think is a big deal for local matches, but I don't think that they should be mixed together and used at championship matches. At national, regional and state championships everyone needs to be shooting at the same size targets.)

Your correct Ray sent his in and they were approved and if I recall correctly some, or all, of his have 'NRA Approved' on the backs

I am Greg Chandler (ShootingStar) - the guy who bought out Ray's Targets and allowed him to really retire.
I'm a Silhouette Shooter just like the rest of you folks, but thought it might be important to keep the Silhouette Targets in the hands of someone in the "Shooting Family."
I have 20 sets of the Rail Animals (5 of each animal) and 3 sets of spinners (one of each animal). I will be carrying them to the Southern Nationals in a few weeks!!!
If you need them, look me up and fill your requirements!

I have place an order for 70 sets of rail animal targets from the same foundry using the same casting forms that Ray used. There will be a 6-8 week lead time before I get my supply, so please be patient. I will get your orders out as soon as possible. Don't forget, you will get the SAME items from me that you got from Ray. They are the ONLY NRA Approved Targets according to Ray.
I will keep the prices (as long as I can) the same as Ray has posted on his website - he has not raised his prices for 2 years even though the cost of Ductile Cast Iron has increased.
