savage mark 2 tr for silhouette?

Hi guys. Just wondering if the savage mark 2 tr would make for a appropriate silhouette rifle? Also I have done some looking to find equipment rules to see if this rifle fits but have not found anything yet. Your help would be much appreciated.

If you own one and want to try the game then by all means use it. The TR stock is designed for prone shooting so the comb is low and the heel of the butt is high. So, to answer you question, no it's not appropriate but if that is what you have you should use it to play before you pay.... ;)

Yep - whatever you have at the moment is the right gun to start with. If you have a .22 rifle already, the hard part may be finding standard velocity ammo!!
If you are wondering if the Savage is the right gun to purchase for this game, I encourage you to prowl around on this site a little bit longer - you will probably get several other suggestions instead of that specific rifle.

If you have it, shoot it. If you haven't purchased a rifle yet, I would look for a CZ. If you already have the TR, I hope it shoots better than mine. I have tried several different kinds of ammo, so far 1" at 50 yards has been tops for mine. From a rest. Good luck!

I have a TRR-SR Mark II that out-shoots my abilities when standing, and likely will for a while, so it is what I use.

18x AO scope on top, and while it isn't as good as what one usually sees on the line, it is what I have.

With the Boyd's Tacticool stock and the scope, it weighs 9lb2oz (no mag/ammo) and when I shoulder it, the lower corner of the butt is resting against my collarbone. Unorthodox, but then again, it is what I have, so I try and make it work.

I've never shot it on paper, and all I have and can find in any decent quantities are MiniMags, so I have no idea of ultimate group size! and that's what I practice and shoot with. If I start thinking of all the What-Ifs, like a better scope/rifle/ammo, etc., I may not have as much fun when I shoot, but having what I have, and just enjoying the heck out of it is all good with me.

I say use it, enjoy it, and if you reach the point that you're noticeably "better than the rifle", relegate it to plinking and get a "better" one. There will be folks with more expensive guns who can't hit what you'll be able to with yours, with some good practice.

Thank you all for your replies. Sorry I have not got back to you all for so long. The wife and I just had a baby boy on the 15th and I have just not had the time to get back to you all. As far as the TR goes its not that I have one already just that a friend has one that he is selling. I think ill keep looking. Thanks again.
