Scout Scholarships
This doesn't necessarily have to be limited to Scouting, but I had an idea that I'm going to be implementing and thought I would share it in the hopes others find value in it as well.
Our Troop has a couple of kids looking forward to summer camp and due to their financial situation, are applying for scholarships to help defray the costs. There are a multitude of fund-raisers available but I had an idea...
Sponsor a target-setter.
Have mom or dad bring the target-setter by to work from say, 9-1p. They set targets, introduce them and their parents to silhouette, the kids do some shooting (parents too!) and you pay the setter as part of the sponsorship, maybe $10, $20, etc... each match to work them toward saving up for camp.
Anyhow, thought I would pass this along. Could be a way to drive interest and expand the shooting sports as well as get a kid off the couch.

Re: Scout Scholarships
that is a Good Idea,
When i was in scouts we use to do just that, it was setup through the troop with the range, we did not get the money directly it went to the troop. At the time our troop use to do our own summer camps and for those like me that were not able to afford to pay the entire amount, they would kick in and help with the payments if you worked at the events. (basically we were working off part of the amount of camp)
In addition to the target setting, we use to do paper drives pancake breakfasts and other things like that to earn money.
