54 Savage/Anschutz pointed trigger guard
I have a 54 savage/anschutz sporter (1967). I have a different 54 stock I want to put the barreled action in. my problem is, the pointed trigger guard does not lay into the pistol grip like it does with the original stock. the difference in the stocks are. original has 3rd screw for rear sight lug, black pistol grip cap.
The newer stock has place for rear sight lug but no screw.(of which is no problem) it has a white diamond on pistol grip cap.
I don't know what to look for so the pointed trigger guard fits the newer stock.
Any help would be greatly appreaciated. This is also posted on "rimfire central"
Thanks

Re: 54 Savage/Anschutz pointed trigger guard
Hi,
I just bought a 54 sporter myself last week and have the same problem with the trigger guard. Has anyone send you a response with any ideas, I am about ready to go to my local machine shop and have him make me one.
Thanks
Tom

Two choices: make the trigger guard fit the stock or make the stock fit the trigger guard.
