Re: De-Resonator - Limbsaver
"Nothing can be attached"is a strong statement when the rule book says otherwise
(e) Attachments which do not cause any portion of the rifle to exceed the weight or dimensions as listed herein are permitted provided they do not extend past the end of the barrel. Sighting devices are not considered “attachments”.
Shooters have been using Bloop tubes and barrel weights for some time in Silhouette rifle class. Seems to me they are allowed. Not a bad idea for the Silhouette committe to clean the rule up though. Have to look in serveral places to get the picture.

Re: De-Resonator - Limbsaver
There certainly needs more clarification. This also applies to HP as a later secondary question I had with them. I was told too, NOT to bring it up again! They realize they have a problem! Issue was raised 3 years ago with interpretation and let go as is. Now, it appears they will be taking a serious look into the rule. Sorry I raised the issue...........Clubs do what you want to do in 2014 with your interpretations. IMO

Re: De-Resonator - Limbsaver
My conclusion: Hunter Class - No compensators are allowed or barrel weights.
Std Class - Compensators, barrel weights...etc. are approved

Re: De-Resonator - Limbsaver
Why would you even need such a device for Silhouette? My plain old stock 1712 barrel shoots just fine and under 1" at 100m with SK+ I don't see how trying to shrink that group using one of these tuners to around .75" at 100m is going to make a damn bit of difference. The rifles as they are now are plenty accurate enough to hit the targets be them CZ or Anschutz rifles. Seems like a waste of time and effort to even mess with such a thing for this game IMO.

Re: De-Resonator - Limbsaver
If you've ever missed a target by .25 inch then it could have been a hit with a tighter group. Personally I don't go that route, but technically you can get more hits with a smaller group. Just sayin.Dee wrote:Why would you even need such a device for Silhouette? Re: De-Resonator - Limbsaver
I just received in writing from Rick Berry, Silhouette Program Director, "NOTHING CAN BE ATTACHED TO THE BARREL."
This is for both Hunter and Std Class.
The guy can" read his own rule book. People have been hanging things on their standard rifles for years. Nothing has EVER been said at the nationals about that.

Re: De-Resonator - Limbsaver
I don't know who Rick Berry is, but it is perfectly legal to use bloop tubes with weights on them, or on the barrel, and anything else you want except a muzzle brake on any STANDARD CLASS RIFLE.
No attachments allowed on HUNTER CLASS This applies to both High Power, and Smallbore rifles.
By the way the De-Resonator is a tuning device.

In theory yes you would hit the ever so near misses but in practice who has a hold of .75" offhand at 100M? We are talking about benched groups versus offhand. For that matter you could say a larger group might get you more hits because it might compensate for your really bad shot by flying over 2" into the animal and hitting it

Re: De-Resonator - Limbsaver
Now THAT sounds more like me. Since my shooting is so poor I should use remington golden bullets to open up my benched groups and give me a chance to hit! Brilliant! ;)Dee wrote: For that matter you could say a larger group might get you more hits because it might compensate for your really bad shot by flying over 2" into the animal and hitting it![]()

Said it before will say it again. Silhouette Committe makes the rules publishes then in the rule book. Match directors use the book to run matches. Silhouette committe can change rules, NRA staff can't.
NRA staff opinion means nothing.
