I just saw an ad about these guys, http://mannersstocks.com. I wonder if we approached them if the would offer the Pharr style stock? They do make a carbon fiber stock now.

Don't know if they would but they make high quality and top line stuff. They are a big player and have a great reputation with their product....

There is a duplicator on yellow 54 right now... some one could make a mold or balsa plug from a Pharr and then wrap in glass and paint.... Just sayin for some of you up north.... winter project....

Yea, surfboard tech. Get some easy to machine foam and have at it. There are also several other benefits to "surfboard tech". As a prototype, if there is a section that isn't what you are after (as opposed to build up a spot a little bit with microballoons) you just cut it out glue in a new block in that area and shape away.
Most people think of this technique only as a way of making "one offs", but there are some foams that can be pored into comparatively inexpensive molds and then processed...just like mass produced surf boards.
