2013 Louisiana Cowboy Lever Action Silhouette Championship

Post by dustinflint »

Everyone,

Attached is the program and entry form for the 2013 Louisiana CLA Championship on December 14 & 15 in Chalmette, Louisiana. This is the second annual Cowboy silhouette Louisiana state championship and we have lots of improvements over last year including better target stands! Resettable SBCR and PCCLA targets are also in the works.

Please note that REGISTRATION IS LIMITED TO THE FIRST 32 ENTRANTS IN EACH RIFLE. Hopefully we'll be able to open registration up for 2014 (when we move to our new gun club!!!) but for now the setup has to be somewhat temporary so entries will have to be limited. Please also note that I'm giving priority to those who attended the first annual match last year so get your entry in quick! Spots are already filling up and several folks have told me that they're waiting for this entry form to be posted here.

We are excited to see everyone in December! If you attended last year, your spot is held unless you tell me otherwise - you'll be getting an email or a call soon.

2013 Louisiana CLA Championship - RESULTS

Post by dustinflint »

Everyone,

I was reminded this morning that I never posted the results to the Louisiana Cowboy Lever Action Championship held in Chalmette, LA on December 14 & 15. The match went well; the weather cooperated for the most part with a warm Saturday for Smallbore and Pistol Cartridge and a cold Sunday for CLA.

Congrats to my good friend Robert Massey who took the Smallbore State championship and the early aggregate lead and didn't let it go the entire weekend; finishing up with the CLA state championship and the overall aggregate on Sunday.

Our other state champion was Jerry Boydstun with a dominating 37/40 in the pistol cartridge match.

For next year, due to the short days in December we are going to shoot three 40-shot matches instead of 60-shot matches (we shortened two of the matches this year) and I think we are going to move the match to Gonzales, LA to save most of the shooters (and the match director) about 2 hours of driving.

The full details of the results are attached but the skinny was:

1 AA - Greg Sullivan 28/40
2 AA - Jerry Tureau 26/40
1 A - Paul Price 23/40
2 A - Judy Lee 16/40
1 B - Kevin Flint 10/40

Cowboy Lever Action Rifle
State Champion - Robert Massey 36/40
1 M - Dustin Flint 35/40
2 M - Lee O'Neal 30/40

Hermit- 21 shooters. Had a good half dozen cancel last minute due to sickness and work issues. I suspect the forecast scared away a few as well. WX forecast was worse than the actual conditions turned out to be. Saturday was great shooting conditions, and Sunday was cold, but not so much to be unpleasant.... Range didn't get the wind that would chill to the core. I'm usually one of the first to complain about cold/wet conditions. Jerry's good cookin' helped keep our bellys warm too!

Dustin - Just like last year, you guys did a great job! Absolutely nothing wrong with the Chalmette range, but from what I can tell from Google, the Gonzales range will be more convenient, travel-wise... Just way too close to a place that I spend way too much money

Already looking forward to next year,

- the Lees
