New Rig For Round 2
Well I shot my first match with my scoped 39a . As predicted I had a ball . Having said that I sold a few things in the safe and got busy shopping . I decided on a CZ 455 American . Ordered it from Grabagun.com. after coming up empty on the local search . For a scope ,I went with a Nikon Prostaff EFR . To round out the package : BKL rings , 2 extra mags & a brick of SK Standard Plus .
After feeling like a kid on Christmas eve for about a week , everything is finally here . The CZ is an impressive specimen . I just got done mounting the scope . Fit & Finish is awesome . Adjusted the trigger as low as it will go & will see if further tweaking is desired . Rifle fits me great ! Tomorrow is range day . Sight it in & zero it for next Saturdays match .
I'll let ya know how she shoots . Hopefully as good as she looks !

Re: New Rig For Round 2
Took the 455 to the range yesterday . Shot about 60 rounds of CCI SV after sighting in @ 50 yards . Off a bench & some sand bags I got the rifle to group at about 1-1/4" at 50 yards . Switched over to SK standard plus and after about 25 rounds shot some more groups . Last 2 groups tightened up at about 3/4 " . Experienced quite a few flyers with both ammos but I think it was the less than stable bags I was using . Zeroed the Nikon & moved out to 100 yards . Groups were about 2" at 100 yards . Dialed the scope back to the zero mark & shot 4 last groups at 50 yards . Shots were right back at the bullseye and about 3/4'" .
Overall I am pleased with the CZs performance for a first time out . I would like to try some more different types of ammo when I can get my hands on some as well as a YODAVE Trigger Kit . I think with a little seasoning , trigger work & ammo testing the rifle will only get better . I'm happy with my purchase & we'll see how she shoots in the match on Saturday .

Those flyers are the difference in great ammo and good ammo IMHO. When you find an ammo without flyers, buy it all!
I buy all my guns from t-rex. He's a small arms dealer.

Alman, You might want to consider a Timney trigger for you CZ. It's a drop in with just a little stock to be removed in the trigger well to make it fit.

PPKNY , thanks for the link / pic ! I will definitely consider the Timney trigger . How much modification has to be done to the stock ?

Alman, About 1/8 inch all round on the inside and on mine the trigger guard opening (steel bottom plate) cavity needed about 1/16 more clearance because the trigger sat below the plate when the gun assembly was seated in the stock. It all can be done with a good dermal tool.

That looks like a 452 trigger, not a 455. Doesn't the 455 come with an upgraded trigger that looks very different?

It is a 452 trigger. I didn't think they changed it too much for the 455, maybe I'm wrong.
Hard to show a pic of the stock removal for the trigger . It was just about a 1/8 cut all around the inside edges, nothing drastic.

If you mount the trigger, coat the sides, bottom edges, and any protrusions with either a "blackening" agent (stockmaker's black is available, but using your wife's least favorite lipstick works toohermit5 wrote:ppkny, how about a pic of the stock where wood was removed?
When you reinsert the barreled action in the stock, the areas needed to be relieved will be marked. Reapply until no stockmaker's black (or lipstick
