Need Help Changing a Marbles Tang Sight Post

I have a new Marbles Tang Sight Post that I want to use in place of the "short" one that came with the sight. The sight was suppose to come with instructions, the Marbles web sight is no help. The only instructions I have say, "Note: Set Screw in the barrel nut holds internal ball bearing in place. DO NOT REMOVE."

OK, so how do I remove the old sight post - and install the new one?

Troy is out until Monday. But it seems the people I bought the sight from last year sent me the wrong item. I didn't know the difference between the "improved" sight and the "standard" sight and had the "standard" sight installed on my Rossi M92. Standard sights can't add the taller sight post and is too short for shots over 75 yards.

I'm trying to determine now if the standard sight mounting holes will allow me to use the improved sight base - without changing the holes. If so I'll simply swap sight bases and use the "improved" sights.

My fault - I didn't know difference and trusted that I'd been sent the right tang sight.

It sounds like you have an older (not improved) Marble Tang Mounted Peep Sight. Trying to change posts will end up with springs and ball bearing all over your gun room. Another solve may be to get a lower front sight to attain the same goal without the fuss and expense. An old adage: "Remember your FORS. Front opposite, rear same. Therefore lowering your front bead or blade may accomplish the same thing as increasing the heigth of your rear post. Ask Troy, he's good people. I've found that Lyman makes lower front sights than Marble does. They've saved me as much as 19 clicks.

The solution is to replace the "standard" sight with the "improved" sight and use the mid-range sight post. I have the shortest possible front sight in place and have to go up 60 clicks for pigs...the thing only has 66 clicks total!
So, I'm replacing the standard with the improved, adding a higher sight post.

Here is a synopsis of my self-inflicted education - using a 20" Rossi .454 Casull, firing .45 colt cartridges:
*Uses .454 not .452 boolits
*Use 10gr of Unique
*The advised "standard" Marbles Tang Sight is way too low - you will need a higher sight post and a lower front sight to hit anything beyond 100 yards.
*250gr RNFP cast boolits are well suited for this rifle, but the 1:30 twist rate says 200gr or 230gr bolits should work well too - if you can get them in .454 (not the .452 that .45 ACP uses)
*.45 Colt is a good Pistol Cartridge caliber, but only a marginal long range cartridge - because of the rainbow-arc boolit path
*.45 Colt is OK for "One-gun Two-matches" in the beginning. If you want to win you will need a flatter shooing rifle for the long range matches.
*My "next" rifle will have a receiver sight.
