Where buy Sightron or Leupold?

Post by JNW »

I want to get a Sightron SII BS Silhouette or a Leupold for silhouette shooting. Where is the best place to buy one? Anyone have a used scope?
Thanks
Jeff

For new leupolds this site has great prices (this is the link to the scope I just bought)

I buy all my guns from t-rex. He's a small arms dealer.

Lot of ups and downs, back and fourths, about the scopes. Dustin put up a very good post on scopes. I took his advise and have not regretted it. Beware of exploding heads. :D I have tried most all of them. If you can shoot the fixed power 25X Leupold with either a 3/8 min or 1/2 min dot, feel confident in that you have the best glass for the money on your gun. Old saying still holds true, buy once, cry once. The cost difference in the fixed powers isn't that much. They are 4 oz lighter than a variable power 6.5 x 20. Put the weight some place else. My gun was border line (weight) with the variable power. Now have plenty to spare. All of the Weavers I have looked through, compared with the Leupold's, all looked like (to me) I was looking through a fog. The shooters I know with the Sightrons, all say the adjustments are mushy. My 5 cents worth. Figuring in inflation.

Thanks for the information. Looked at a Leupold vx-2 6-18 yesterday and it was sweet. Have yet to touch a Sightron. Probably end up with a Leupold.

Guess I will point out one of the great dealers is a supporter here Chicken George. I always got the best set ice and price from him.

I emailed him earlier today and waiting for response. Still have not found much variation in Sightron pricing. What size dots do the Leupolds come with? I have their catalog and it does not list custom options. I really like the tapering Leupold dot and that with a 3/8" dot would be perfect.
Thanks

If you can buy from these folks,couple two, three post up (tp://www.tacticalwholesalers.com/Leupold-FX- ... p_318.html) it's a deal. I paid a 100.00 more from SWFA(http://swfa.com/Leupold-Competition-Rif ... -C108.aspx) for the 3/8 dot, 25X40. 1/8,3/8,1/2 from there I don't know.

I'll give Chicken George another endorsement. After a bit of discussion with him I decided to buy the Sightron SIIB Sil scope and it has been a dandy. Sometimes I wonder if I should have bought the Leupold, but that's just my nature. The Sightron has been great...all I could hope for on a silhouette range and for whacking squirrels.
