FS: Shortened TX200 Stock for LOP Tuning - SOLD
Hi Everyone,
I have a TX200 stock that has been shortened by AOA 2" so that the length of pull will fit smaller/younger folks, or it can be tuned to fit anyone who finds the factory length too long like I did. The balance point just never seemed right, or neutral, where I prefer it, always barrel-heavy, until some length got whacked off of the stock. To compensate for the shorter length, there is a cavity about 4" deep and 3/4" wide cut out of the rear so that ballast weights can be added to tune the center of gravity of the whole gun. Until you've fooled around with this, you don't know what you're missing, and it can turn your gun from wobbly to a steadier hold, not to mention more comfortable. It's much easier to adapt to a shorter length of pull with the proper weight distribution then fight a longer LOP that is also front-end heavy. Sometimes you adapt a strange hold that is painful to compensate for it, but what you really needed was a shorter LOP. However, If you prefer the weight bias towards the front for steadiness, all you have to do is not use the counterbalance weights, so you can have shorter LOP with the front weight you prefer. In fact, without the weights, the front feels a lot heavier then in factory trim. Some may prefer this. That's what this is all about, tuning it to fit you in an aspect that most people never fool with, but makes a critical difference. We try different pellets, we try different springs, we try different holds, etc..., why should we let the factory decide arguably the most important aspect of the gun, how it fits?
Towards the end of a 40 or 60 shot match, if your gun doesn't fit you, you can't possibly shoot your best.
The stock is definitely not pristine, has scratches and holes cut in it for the riser and weights. I'd rate it cosmetically at about 75%, but that's not why you buy this. Actually it's nice to have because you can take off your showroom stock and put it somewhere safe from damage. I have detailed pictures showing you everything you need to make a decision. I'm going to wait until Saturday to list it on the Yellow Classifieds and American Airguns, because I wanted to offer it to the Silhouette community first, where it should be. Included with the stock is:
1. A Morgan Adjustable Recoil Pad that has a softer compound then the factory pad, which makes recoil and vibration less (but I've used it with just
the abs plastic block the pad mounts on, for the shortest possible LOP).
2. The Air Arms factory TX200 recoil pad.
3. 2 - 8 oz. round lead fishing weights to tune the stock, that fit perfectly in the cavity with a little shimming material, also included.
4. A wooden hamster/knee rest/palm shelf, whatever you want to call it, that can be screwed into the stock for a much lower hold or Field Target work.

I saw this stock today, it could be very useful for smaller shooters. The Morgan adjustable pad is really nice too, although Pat Steiger will probably protest you if you use it...

You can use the Morgan pad. Unfortunately you would have to leave it centered to be legal in Sporter class.
