Ok. so I encouraged a new shooter to "bring what you own" to the first match of the season and low and behold he did. I told him to bring his 30-30 to the CLA match and I'd have some bullets for him. Not wanting to burn my reloads, he showed up with a Marlin 1894 in 41 Rem mag and a box of Remington 210g factory loads. He said he enjoys the challenge of trying something different. I can't envision factory loads being a long term solution but he shot the match and he's excited to try it again. So, the hunt is on for projectiles now that a #30 shell holder has been located. Anyone sitting on a mould? Anyone out there used this cartridge for this game? Seems to be nuts on accurate with factory loads but more recoil than needed for this sport IMO. And, I really don't want factory loads unleashed on our PCCLA targets.

Always fun to get a new shooter hooked. Any help appreciated.

I'd be -interested to hear/read any replys to this. I've been a long time .41 Magnum revolver shooter and a on-again off again CLA/PCLA shooter and I'm wondering if I too should have bought that Marlin long ago.
I've used a variety of cast loads for hunting (primarily out of an '70s vintage Blackhawk) that perform very well with generous amounts of Blue Dot. I've played around with some mid-range loads using that powder, but I believe Unique to be a better mid-range choice with 200-215 grain bullets, simply because of volume of powder used.

I've got a stash of Lil' Gun that I originally purchased for use in my Hornet that may get a try out.

What do you consider an appropriate velocity with 200-215 grain hard cast bullets to avoid target damage?

Well, we got some copper "plated" bullets from Gunbroker. No one has bullets period. I do have a 41032 mould heading my way but the season will be over before I get to casting for a new shooter. There is only so much you can do to help. I think he got 800 of these copper plated bullets and they look good to me. 250 pcs of brass and some CCI primers. They limit us to 500 per day at gun shops. What I am finding the problem now is I cannot find powder. No Unique, not Titegroup, no Bullseye.

What are folks finding in the rest of the country? I think all the Massholes come up to NH and wipe out the stores. All of this is making our sport less and less fun. When we get some results I will let you know.
