Went to shoot rimfire yesterday at New Braunfels TX and ran into a shooter named Greg B. Well, before I knew what was happening Greg twisted my arm up behind my back and made me take one of his HP rifles, and ammo, and shoot the High Power match.

Damn this is gonna cost......

Yes. Yes, it is. I was in the same sort of situation. I was shooting smallbore silhouette and was entirely happy doing it. I always turned aside suggestions that I try highpower silhouette because I didn't have a gun for it. Through more than a bit of luck, that excuse was removed and I'm now fully addicted and have spent more than I want to think about, and more than my wife needs to know, over the past few years on highpower silhouette. I still remember the first ram I knocked down, though, and my first five-in-a-row. Now smallbore silhouette seems like it's just practice for highpower.

You Jason here WON his high power rifle as a door prize at the Connard Cup a few years back. I still have a picture of him with $hit eating grin fully installed after he picked it up off the table.

Now having said that being Jason he had to re-stock it (from a Wooster to a Pharr) and tweak about a million little things (you can't trust engineers to leave anything alone!)

Just another reason why the Connard is one of the coolest matches to shoot this side of anywhere.

Merlin - If I remember correctly, you also beat Greg's score, in your first HP match, using his gun. Talk about salt in a wound.

I told you someone was going to put a rifle in your hands for HP!

When I first tried HP I had what I thought was a loaner rifle for the first couple of matches I shot. Then I found out it was really a BAIT rifle! Needless to say I had started to collect parts for a new HP rifle build after the first match I shot. Just like the two sucker fish that took the same bait each year before me.

Sounds like you got hooked deep in the gullet.
