David Hassinger
This has just been posted to the Haltom City Rifle and Pistol Club website.
David was one of the good guys and we've lost -- especially the Hunter Pistol and Cowboy Rifle groups -- a real force from within the sport.

Shooters all over, and those of us in the Haltom City Rifle and Pistol Club especially, lost a valuable asset and a good and close friend last night when David Hassinger passed away from an apparent heart attack.
David was a many-time National Champion in NRA's Hunter Pistol and Cowboy Silhouette Rifle competitions and the holder of innumerable National Records in both Rifle and Pistol.
A long-time HCRP Club officer, RO and Match Director, TSRA director and tireless contributor to the shooting sports, he will be sorely missed.
We will post further information on services or memorials as it becomes available.

This is sad to hear, David was a great shooter.I rememember when he first started Hunter Pistol,just AA at the time,but he put in the time & effort & made master quickly.He was one of my strongest competitors.His talent made all of us shoot better.He was my friend.

I'll pass the word.
The current plan is to designate the upcoming (9 Feb) HCRP match as a memorial to David and we'll have a small 'wake' somewhere -- at the discretion of the attendees -- afterward.
David was a good guy and he was the 'information' man at the club. We'll be more than a little fortunate if we find someone who can fill in for all he did.

Very sorry to hear of this.
He was really,really a great person.
It was a honor to know him, for it was David's enthusiasm that motivated me to try lever gun rimfire, and had I never met him, I would not have a blue ribbon here.
I will always be able to remember him for that.
